Andrea Freeman
As a licensed professional counselor and behavior specialist, I view mental health as an essential aspect that impacts our daily lives. With 14 years of experience working with individuals struggling with interpersonal relationships, internal conflict, trauma, behavior and mood disorders has shown the need for ongoing therapeutic support. The therapeutic relationship is a safe space where you can feel seen and heard. I'm an active listener and hold space for you to be vulnerable. We will challenge the current barriers, explore possible solutions, learn new skills and build upon your inner strengths.
First session
The initial session will be the opportunity to continue building rapport, answering further questions about the therapeutic process. The client will have the opportunity to guide the session on what they would like to start with sharing.
Strengths
I am empathic, empowering, and engaging. I can adapt to the needs of my clients. I can sit quietly and hold space or challenge what's being shared to explore deeper. I understand different situations may require a different approach. I am present, patient, and a problem-solver. Being open-minded allows me to see whole person and the bigger picture.
Ideal clients
The ideal client is someone looking to make positive change that impacts their present and future. A client that wants to adapt or increase a growth mindset, and is ready to challenge themselves in their daily lives. A client with realistic expectations and is willing to trust the therapeutic journey. Having the understanding that therapy is not an overnight solution or a straight path the healing. However, with consistency, honesty, and work that progress is possible.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress or difficulties in your daily life. CBT views the connection between your thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. We will explore what you were thinking, how it make you feel, and how you responded to the situation. Through this skill-based and collaborative method, we will work together to cultivate healthier coping skills, problem solving, and changing thinking habits. It allows to view challenging situations and the potential outcomes from a different perspective.
