Sheherezade Robinson
Hey there! I'm glad you're here. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should feel like a genuine conversation, not just a series of questions. I know that taking the first step toward therapy isn't always easy, and I want you to feel comfortable showing up just as you are.
Therapy doesn't have to feel intimidating. I bring warmth, compassion, curiosity, and a little humor along the way.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in helping you better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, and create meaningful change. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, working through a difficult season, or simply trying to figure out your next steps, I'm here to walk alongside you as we work toward meaningful change.
First session
Well, look at you! You've made it to your first therapy session, and that's something worth celebrating! First things first, take a breath. You got this! Our first session is really about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what life has been looking like lately, and what you hope to gain from our time together. I'll ask some questions to better understand your experiences, your history, and what's worked or hasn't worked for you in the past. But don't worry, you don't have to share everything all at once or have the perfect words to explain how you're feeling. We'll take it one step at a time. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling heard, a little more at ease, and encouraged about what's possible moving forward.
Strengths
I think one of my greatest strengths is my ability to connect with people and make them feel comfortable being themselves. I bring warmth, compassion, curiosity, and a little humor when appropriate into our conversations. I'm a good listener, but I'm also not afraid to ask thoughtful questions, offer a different perspective, or gently challenge you when I believe it can support your growth. My approach is collaborative, and I don't believe therapy should feel like someone telling you what to do. Instead, we'll work together to explore what's happening in your life, recognize patterns, build on your strengths, and discover what meaningful change looks like for you. I bring both my clinical experience and my genuine appreciation for people and their stories into every session.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults who are navigating life's challenges, whether that's relationships, major life transitions, past experiences, or simply trying to figure out what comes next. I have a special appreciation for individuals who are new to therapy or have been thinking about it for a while but aren't quite sure where to begin. Maybe you're nervous, skeptical, overwhelmed, or wondering what you'll even talk about. That's okay! You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly what you're looking for. I welcome the opportunity to meet you wherever you are, explore what's bringing you to therapy, and help you feel more comfortable with the process. Together, we can begin making sense of your experiences, understanding yourself more deeply, and exploring what moving forward might look like for you. My hope is that whether we work together for a few sessions or much longer, you walk away feeling heard, supported, and more confident in taking the next steps in your journey.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe you're the expert on your own life, and my role isn't to tell you who you should be or what decisions you should make. My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy, which means we start with you—your experiences, your perspective, your needs, and what matters most to you. I bring warmth, genuine curiosity, and compassion into our sessions, creating room for honest conversations and self-discovery. While this is the foundation of my work, I also recognize that therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Depending on what you're experiencing and what you hope to accomplish, we may incorporate other approaches and practical tools to help you recognize patterns, navigate challenges, and make meaningful changes. We'll work together to find what feels helpful and supports your growth. After all, this is your journey, and I'm here to walk alongside you.
