About me

my name is Lisa Stout and I am a licensed Marrriage and Family Therapist. I have 19 years experience working with children, adults, family and couples. I have 18 years experience working with trauma related symptoms, depression, SI/SH , anxiety and family issues. I am trained in EMDR and trauma informed therapy intervention.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the initial therapy appointment, I like to get to know the client and get a understanding of what brings them into therapy and what outcome they desire. I am also here to answer any questions about therapy or about my experience and training as a therapist.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring a grounded, compassionate presence shaped by ong-term recovery and healing, which helps me sit with pain without flinching or judging and to notice resilence in others. In sessions, I offer steady warmth and clarity, and when useful, provide gently respectful challenges to support growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have a heart for those struggling with addiction and all that it takes to repair the damage that has occured due to thier addiction, I work a lot with people who struggle with suicide ideation and self-harm. I have alot of experience working with parents trying to navigate difficult behaviors of thier children. My ideal client is someone who is aware that they need support to make changes and are willing to do the work..

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT (cogntive Behavioral Therapy) is a practical skills-based approach where I work with the client to notice patterns between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In session, I help clients slow down, catch unhelpful thoughts and they show up, test against evidence and try out new ways of responding, both mentally and behaviorally. It is a collaborative approach between myself and the client.
