Hello, I am a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in treating simple and complex trauma, neurodivergent traits (ADHD, ASD, sensitivities) and along with general mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. I draw on a number of tools to identify and resolve the underlying events and experiences that contribute to distress and disruption including CBT, DBT, IFS, and EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. You deserve to work with someone who hears you and understands your experience(s) and offers action plans for healing. I help my clients create the change they are seeking. In my practice you will be seen and heard in a secure, safe place with free from judgement. I am so fortunate to be working with people who want to make meaningful changes in their lives so they can find the happiness they deserve! Its takes courage and bravery to do this work and I am here for the journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session you will have the space to talk about what brought you to therapy and the most important things you would like to focus on as we begin working together. This is a time for us to begin to get to know each other and create a safe space for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

There are two areas in which I have specialized skills, trauma and neuro diversity. One is working with trauma. I have treated trauma that is a result of a single event such as an auto accident, as well as complex trauma that which is the result of long-term childhood or relationship experiences. For this type of treatment EMDR is a powerful intervention that creates lasting change that allows people to move beyond the events that can block them from happy, healthy lives. My other specialty work is with clients who have neuro-atypical traits such as ADHD, high sensitivity, and executive functioning differences. I have some of these traits which makes it possible to relate to my clients because we have shared lived experiences. My clients say this has been very important in creating trust and a strong therapeutic relationship.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

The people I support are from all types of backgrounds and are at various places in their lives from adolescence to people in the more mature stages of life. My experience and trainings enable me to work with people dealing with anxiety and depression, acute and complex trauma (a current incident or life long experiences beginning in childhood), navigating gender and sexual orientation issues, life transition and grief.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I completed EMDR Basic training in 2011 with two clinicians who trained (in 1989) directly with Dr. Francine Shapiro, developer of the modality. Additionally, I engage in regular advanced EMDR trainings due to rapid advancements in this modality coupled with advancements in neuroscience and neuropsychology. I have experienced watching people change their lives using EMDR to rid themselves of experiencing the "past in the present", as Francine has stated. The freedom my clients get from using this treatment is nothing short of amazing.

Attachment-based

Our attachment style is how we connect with ourselves and others. We develop our attachment style throughout childhood and it is shaped by the core adults in our lives. My training in attachment work has been primarily with Dr. Daniel Siegel as well as various EMDR traings where attachment theory is included in the EMDR content.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a foundational talk based approach to resolving emotional and behavioral issues we often experience in daily life. My training in CBT spans the entirety of my career. It is a modality that is used in treating general mental health issues as well as healing trauma and supporting people who are neuro divergent.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I have had numerous training with clinicians who work directly with Dr. Richard Schwartz, the clinician who developed the IFS framework. It is a helpful approach to helping clients understand and process various mental health issues.

Finished my first appointment with Diane and I felt so comfortable and like I could share anything. Her sharing her life experiences helped me realize I am not alone in this journey. I have found it hard to very open with therapists in the past, but with Diane I felt very hopeful at the end of our first session together.

If I didn’t have Diane’s thought process & tools in my head I would not have been able to get out of the abusive relationship that at the time I thought was Normal . She gave me the tools & structure & self awareness to stand up & become the person I was prior to the abuse & leave that relationship .. I’m so grateful for Diane

It's my first time talking to a therapist and she was very easy to communicate with and understood the situation quickly and was straightforward with what's going on. She left me with great advice and resources too use for future use. Id highly recommend her for anyones first time speaking with a therapist.
