I am a counselor based out of Tennessee. Educationally: I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. I currently hold both Licensure tiers of LPC and MHSP in the state of Tennessee. I am originally from Alabama but have lived and practiced in Tennessee for the last 15 + years. Throughout my career I have worked with clients and client families of all ages and a wide variety of backgrounds on a who have been dealing with a wide variety of issues. I pride myself on providing a supportive and welcoming environment that encourages collaboration with my clients as we work towards your specific goals. I feel that when done correctly therapy should empower the client and view my role as providing guidance and evidence-based interventions that respect the client's personal needs, goals and unique backgrounds.
I like to start session with a comprehensive review of the Client's concerns, history of the problems we will be discussing, social history, family history and potential barriers to treatment progress. Then I work with the Client to establish a collaborative treatment plan to best meet their needs and address any obstacles that have been identified.
In addition to my formal education, I have 15 years of experience working in Mental Health with individuals and families to find their solutions to the issues that matter to them. I strive to provide the client that is tailored to them whether that be calm supportive listening or a more direct behavior activation/ challenging approach.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients who are dealing with a wide variety of concerns. I enjoy working with clients who may be experiencing negative self-talk, anxiety, depression, anger management and relationship issues. Many of my clients are driven but may struggle to recognize unhelpful thought and behavior patterns. I enjoy helping my client's calm the noise and identify sustainable goal directed approaches to addressing their concerns that are consistent with who they are.

I use CBT with Clients to improve their ability to identify unhelpful thoughts and thinking styles as well as building the skill set needed to challenge them. As we improve our awareness of these patterns, we will be able to create plans to implement action plans to challenge undesired behaviors and thoughts in a safe and gradual manor that will allow for sustained change.
Many of the Clients I have worked with desire change but struggle to work towards the goals they have identified for themselves. Motivational Interviewing can be helpful in understanding their personal motivation for change, why they may struggle to follow through as well as building support and reinforcing the client's confidence that change is possible.
Often clients present with concerns such as anger, anxiety, avoidance and relationship difficulties that are influenced by a history of unresolved trauma. We focus on building awareness, identifying strengths and teaching skills to allow clients to cope and regulate.
