Patricia Whatley
Hi-I am Patricia Whatley, LCSW. I am a therapist who has been in practice for 5+ years. I take an informed, open-minded, and casual approach to therapy. I draw mostly from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy but utilize additional modalities here and there. I like to help clients feel comfortable and valuable.
Strengths
My life experiences range from growing up in a small town where I was encouraged to not be an individual, but rather, follow the status quo. So, natuarally, by the time I was 17, I started doing the opposite! I have felt the most free when I can be unapologetically myself, and I encourage clients to work towards their true selves.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I encourage clients to use different perspectives to look at issues. I also promote boundary setting and strategies to communicate effectively with others.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I provide coping skills utilizing mindfulness and grounding techniques to help with a variety of issues, such as anxiety and depression.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I encourage self-compassion and self-reflection to help people prioritize their own thoughts and feelings
