Hi, I’m an LICSW practicing in Massachusetts for over 30 years. I received an MSW from Boston University SSW as well as a MA in African American Studies. Each degree has informed the other and made me a better clinician. I love my work and truly believe progress is possible for everyone. It looks different for everyone. I encourage clients to own what their success looks like.
After a brief introduction, in the first session I find clients often need to tell their story. I listen skillfully, fully present with the the client. I recognize that it takes a lot to get to that first appointment and I honor that. Before the conclusion of the session I leave time for any questions they may have and formal documentation.
Everyday is a new day. I believe in people’s ability to find their own answers. I’m naturally curious, a good listener and with my years of experience there isn’t too much that I haven’t heard. I’m almost shock proof… almost!
I enjoy working with adults, who are tired of being tired. They may be trying to figure out how to move forward but they know what they’ve been doing isn’t working.

I have found CBT to be a useful intervention for clients seeking to better understand and reconfigure their thinking patterns as they relate to emotions they may not understand and the sometimes unhealthy behaviors that come out of those thoughts and feelings.
I been using EMDR for clients who have experienced trauma. Generally there are 2 types of clients I’ve used EMDR with. There are those who have done their research and maybe have tried other approaches and have decided that processing their situation using EMDR. Then there are those who are just tired of the unintended consequences of their trauma and want relief.
Relationships can be challenging. They take work to work; and honestly sometimes they need skills that we just don’t have. I work with couples who want to discover what it will take for their relationship to work
RTT can help one to heal and thrive by acknowledging the damage of systemic multi generational racism on individuals, families and communities.
I use FBT by inviting a client’s faith beliefs into the therapeutic process should it be the client’s desire.

We were looking for a person of color who has many years of experience as a therapist, which was essential to my husband and me, and we feel we found this in Karin.
