I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the past 20 years and have a wide variety of experiences working with clients. I am certified in DBT and CBT and have training in ACT, motivational interviewing and trauma treatment. I find great fulfillment in partnering with clients in order to help them find the life they wish to live. I focus on what the client seeks and work to develop practical skills to help improve emotional balance, better relationships and more awareness of the present moment.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

For our first session, we will take some time to get to know one another. I want to hear about you and what has brought you to our session. I want to learn as much as I can about you so we can, together, create a plan to address whatever problems you are facing. I am good at asking questions, so don't feel like you have to be too prepared with lots of answers for the first session! We will work through it together and make a plan that works for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I support every client I work with to achieve their goals. I am a skilled listener and work to find the areas where the client most wants change. I find one of my greatest strengths is to see most situations from a multitude of perspectives, which can be helpful when making decisions on the next best steps to take. My desire is to empower every client to make lasting changes by providing support, encouragement, feedback and practical tools to achieve desired outcomes.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I can help you manage the many stressors of life, big and small, and the continuous adjustments we are all asked to make in order to manage the pressures of our current world. I can help you find the middle path to better manage your thoughts, the emotions that come from those thoughts, and improve your interactions with the many people in your life. There is nothing more powerful than wanting to change things for yourself to live the life you want to live and I can be your partner in achieving that.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT provides practical skills to calm the busy mind, tolerate difficult situations, regulate emotions and improve relationships. It provides a full compliment of avenues to feel better about all the trials that life can provide.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT helps to get us "unstuck" when we find ourselves engaging in behaviors that are no longer productive. The practice focuses on clarifying what is important to us, helping to distinguish who we are from our thoughts and feelings, and grounding us in the present moment. All the work in ACT leads to greater psychological flexibility and living the lives that we most value.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing focuses on the areas that the client is identifying as areas of desired change. This approach, fused with other approaches, assures that the work is being led by the client by developing and focusing on areas of change, the ability to change, reasons to change, need to change, and ultimately making the commitment and taking the necessary steps to change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on challenges thoughts and emotions that lead to maladaptive behaviors. Those thoughts and feelings are most often related to core beliefs we hold about ourselves. By challenging those thoughts, behaviors and thoughts, we can ultimately being to chip away at some of the long-held core beliefs we hold, and ultimately, develop new and more adaptive behaviors.
