Clients say this provider is
Hi, I'm Dr. Ryan Buhite. I'm a "down-to-earth" person who enjoys getting to know people and what will help them succeed. I am passionate about helping others grow, change, and reach their full potential. I believe the therapeutic alliance with my clients is a critical component of the treatment process. I work alongside my clients to help them get through life’s challenges, such as major life changes, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I customize science-based interventions for my clients' situations that make positive changes in thier lives. I received my Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from Wright State University in 2007 and have been Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Clinical Psychology since 2014. Following graduate school, I served in the United States Air Force as a clinical psychologist, treating clients, consulting with leadership, and training young clinicians. In the Air Force, I received extensive training from nationally recognized experts in treating anxiety, depression, and trauma so I could be effective in treating our nation's service men and women. While I have experience working with many different clinical concerns, I specialize in working with veterans, those with anxiety and depression, trauma, and men's issues.
Our first session will be all about getting to know each other and what you would like to achieve in therapy. I really love to get to know my clients on a deeper level during that first session so that I'm able to gain a better understanding of the problem, and how I can best work with you through treatment.
I believe a sound, trusting relationship with a well-trained psychologist is a powerful agent for change. My specialization in anxiety and depression allows me to provide targeted and evidence-based interventions to help clients manage and overcome these challenges. I have experience working with adults of all ages. My therapeutic strategies are adapted to meet the unique needs of each client.
My ideal client is willing to challenge themselves with trying new behaviors, new ways of thinking, and is open to the possibility of changing their environment between sessions. Therapy is meant to help people better understand what changes will improve their lives and then actively plan to make those changes. Thus, the most impactful part of treatment is the changes people make in their lives between sessions!

I’ve been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice for the past 19 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge recurring thoughts and overcome their anxiety and depression.
In addition to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I have had extensive training in Humanistic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Existential treatments. I can use whichever treatment seems to best fit what the client needs.
I have had extensive training from the Center for Deployment Psychology and 19 years of experience using Prolonged Exposure with combat veterans and survivors of sexual abuse. Prolonged Exposure is one of three science-backed interventions that are effective for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Our mental health has a powerful effect on the quality and quantity of sleep. I have extensive training and 19 years of practice working with people on how they can make changes that maximize their sleep.
I have extensive training from the Center for Deployment Psychology and 19 years of experience using Cognitive Processing Therapy for those who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD). This is one of the three most effective treatments for PTSD.
