I’m Dr. Shadavia France, and I practice existential therapy. This approach is centered around helping you explore the fundamental questions and challenges of life, such as meaning, freedom, choice, and responsibility. It’s a bit different from some other types of therapy that might focus only on specific symptoms, as we look at your experiences in the context of your entire life and existence. I’m here to walk alongside you as you make sense of these elements in your life. Rather than providing easy answers, I’ll encourage you to explore these questions deeply and find what feels fulfilling and authentic for you. Together, we'll uncover ways to live more intentionally and authentically in line with who you are at the core

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll begin by getting to know each other. We'll discuss any previous therapy experiences you've had and talk about what brings you to therapy now. This will help me understand how we can best work together in future sessions. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but I can't accept clients who are currently or have previously been, or have close relatives who are, residents of CDCR, CCHCS, DSH, or DAPO, due to a conflict of interest. Thank you for understanding.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I've spent several years working in this field, and I've learned that building a strong connection with my clients is crucial. This connection helps me support them in setting boundaries in their personal and professional lives, being patient when progress feels slow, and discovering their inner strength and hope.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with clients who are curious about exploring deeper questions about life, identity, and purpose. My clients tend to be young adults and mid-career professionals who are dealing with questions about meaning and seeking to uncover what truly matters to them.

Shadavia has been a great witness - I often come away from our sessions feeling not only seen but mirrored back my personal propensity for well-being, which might otherwise remain invisible to me, buried within the stories of my struggles. She is skilled in active listening, often reflecting back what she hears when uncertain, which makes attuning to each other feel more accessible, grounded, and clear. She is not easily overwhelmed, which is useful for me when in complex, dysregulated states.
