Welcome. I help clients navigate midlife and later life transitions. My goal is to help you feel as mentally and emotionally well as possible while moving through these changes with greater ease. I find it deeply rewarding to help clients discover meaning and fulfillment during these stages of their lives. In our sessions, I listen closely and support you as you work through your challenges. I help you gain insight and develop practical strategies, so you feel less anxious and depressed, have more satisfying family relationships, thrive at work or enjoy retirement, and live in alignment with your values.

First session

Your first session is not about having all the answers. It's about having a conversation. I'll take time to get to know you, understand what has brought you to therapy, and learn what you would like to be different in your life. We'll talk about your experiences, your relationships, your strengths, and the goals that matter to you. Most importantly, you can expect to be met with warmth, compassion, and without judgment. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You don't have to tell your entire story all at once, and you don't have to know exactly where therapy needs to take you. We can figure that out together.

Strengths

My approach combines evidence-based therapies including Person Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, while tailoring treatment to your individual needs. I especially enjoy helping clients build confidence, set healthy boundaries, care for themselves without guilt, and reconnect with the things that bring them joy.

Ideal clients

My clients are people in midlife and later life who are committed to engaging in therapy consistently so they can feel less anxious and depressed and live more fulfilling lives. I help people navigate regret, loss, loneliness, and concerns about growing older. I also help support clients struggling with menopause, chronic pain, and major health conditions. My goal is to help my clients develop greater confidence in themselves and their choices, and create meaningful changes in their life.

Treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify what they want their lives to look like and recognize the strengths, resources, and abilities they already have to move toward those goals. Rather than focusing only on what is wrong or what has gone wrong, we explore what is working, what you would like to be different, and what small changes can begin moving you in that direction. For women who have spent years putting the needs of others first, this approach can be especially helpful.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Many of us develop beliefs about ourselves and our responsibilities over the course of our lives, and sometimes those beliefs continue to influence us even when they are no longer serving us. In therapy, we work together to recognize these patterns, examine whether they are accurate or helpful, and develop healthier and more balanced ways of thinking. We then connect those changes in thinking to practical changes in everyday life.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to help clients explore their own reasons for change in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Rather than telling you what you should do, I work collaboratively with you to understand what matters most, identify what may be getting in the way, and strengthen your confidence in making meaningful changes. Motivational Interviewing can help you move from "I know something needs to change, but I don't know where to begin" toward "I can take one step at a time toward what matters to me."

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person Centered Therapy is at the heart of how I connect with my clients. I strive to create a warm, safe, and judgment-free space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves and talk openly about what they are experiencing. I believe each person has their own strengths, experiences, and ability to grow, and I see my role as walking alongside clients rather than telling them what they should do. I listen with empathy and genuine understanding while helping clients recognize their strengths, gain insight, and identify the changes they want to make. By building a trusting relationship, I help clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to move forward at their own pace.
