Hello, my name is Sang Wu and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I received my Masters from Alliant International University and have been practicing for ten years. I work with adults who feel stuck in their current lives, and individuals who struggle with anxiety and depression.

I assist in helping them navigate crucial moments, difficult forks in the road of life, uncertain futures, and help them live their best lives.

First session

The most important piece to success in therapy is therapeutic alliance. From the first session, my goal is to create a safe and comfortable space for us. We will start with some background information, then move to the specific challenges you’re facing. This method is to help me understand where you are so that I can create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow up sessions.

Strengths

Regardless of the diverse individuals with unique stories I work with, clients most compliment me on my ability to connect with them, to make them feel seen heard and truly understood so they don’t feel alone in the challenges they are facing.

Treatment methods

Attachment-based

I believe your initial attachment (age 0-5) with your main care giver informs how you view the world and yourself. It is the base of how your sense of self, your value and worth is formed. I will work with you to explore, identify and create the paradigm shift that leads to healthier self talk and patterns.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I believe it is not what people say but how they makes us feels that makes the bigger impression. We all have a biological need to connect with other humans, and the quality of those relationships is determined by the emotions involved. Utilizing EFT interventions we will work on building emotional knowledge, being more intuned with your own emotions, learning empathy and compassion utilizing mindfulness.
