(she/her)
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 10 years of experience working with adults and couples in clinical, school-based, and telehealth settings. I help people better understand themselves, work through emotional challenges, and develop healthier patterns that support lasting growth. My presence in therapy is warm, honest, and grounded, creating a space where you can show up as you are. When clients specifically request or express interest, I am able to thoughtfully integrate faith-based or spiritual perspectives into the therapeutic process in a way that respects each person’s values and comfort level.
In our first session, we’ll start by getting to know each other and talking about what’s been bringing you to therapy. I’ll ask some questions to understand your concerns, your goals, and what life has been feeling like lately, but there’s no pressure to share everything at once. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and able to be yourself. By the end of the session, we’ll talk about what next steps could look like and begin shaping a plan that fits your needs.
One of my greatest strengths is creating a calm, supportive space where clients feel comfortable being honest and real. My approach blends genuine compassion with practical guidance, helping people not only talk through what’s going on but also learn skills they can actually use in everyday life. I focus on helping clients slow things down, gain clarity, and build steady progress without feeling rushed or judged. With over 10 years of experience across clinical, school-based, and telehealth settings, I adapt my style to fit each person’s needs while keeping therapy grounded, respectful, and goal-oriented.
My ideal clients are adults and couples who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained and are ready to better understand what’s going on beneath the surface. They may be dealing with anxiety, low mood, relationship tension, self-doubt, or ongoing stress and want practical tools along with deeper insight. Many are high-functioning on the outside but struggling internally and looking for a safe place to unpack it all. They are open to reflection, willing to do the work, and interested in steady, meaningful growth rather than quick fixes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to emotional distress. Together, we work on developing practical coping strategies, increasing self-awareness, and building skills that support emotional well-being and daily functioning.
Strength-Based
I use a strengths-based approach to help clients recognize and build on their existing skills, resilience, and personal resources. Therapy focuses on empowering clients, increasing self-confidence, and using individual strengths to support emotional well-being and meaningful change.
Christian Counseling
When clients desire, I integrate Christian faith and values into therapy in a respectful and client-led way. This may include exploring how faith, spirituality, and personal beliefs support coping, meaning, and emotional well-being, alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Couples Counseling
I work with couples who are seeking to improve communication, strengthen understanding, and navigate relationship challenges. My approach is supportive and goal-oriented, helping couples develop healthier interaction patterns and practical skills, while referring out when more specialized couples treatment is needed.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) strategies to help clients strengthen emotional regulation, manage stress more effectively, and improve communication in relationships. My approach focuses on practical skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, and learning how to respond rather than react when emotions feel intense. Rather than overwhelming clients with technical language, I introduce DBT tools in a clear and supportive way that can be applied to everyday situations. The goal is to help you feel more balanced, more in control of your reactions, and better equipped to handle challenges both inside and outside of therapy.

As someone who has been skeptical about therapy for years and has never felt truly comfortable with other therapists, I felt at home and at peace from the start with Ilene. I can't wait to continue my healing and this process with her.
