First session
I strongly believe that the sum total of our life experiences make us the individuals we are today. The goal of our first session together, is to begin to learn more about you, your experiences and your goals for therapy. I will share with you my experiences that I feel will make us a good fit or tell you why I don't feel we are a good fit. I will guide the session, but I expect that you will outline your goals and expectations for therapy. My desire is that you leave feeling safe, understood comfortable and eager for the next session to begin the work.
Strengths
My greatest strengths I bring to the therapy room are a wealth of knowledge and experience, compassion, a non-judgmental approach, empathy understanding and support.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to serve individuals from 5 years of age to the geriatrics, whose lives are challenged by Trauma/PTSD, Addictions, Anxiety, Depression, Emotional dysregulation, Panic Disorder, ADHD, Anger management, Relationship issues, Family conflict and LBGQ2+ issues. Healing, growth and change can be difficulty, and my client should be prepared for self-exploration and self- assessment and be willing to accept constructive feedback.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use this treatment method to help clients create lasting change by understanding how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors connect and the importance of changing them and making better choices, thus getting them "unstuck" and helping them make healthier, more productive decisions.
Trauma-Focused CBT
This treatment method is used to help children, adolescence and their families recover from the life changing effects of trauma.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use this treatment method, which is based on CBT, to treat clients who experience intense emotions, focusing on helping them to accept the reality of their lives and changing unhelpful behaviors.
Couples Counseling
I use this treatment method with couples or romantic partners who are attempting to navigate conflicts and life transitions, improve communication and understand and build empathy.
