Stephane Carvalho
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. My work is guided by attachment-based, systemic, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches, helping clients better understand their emotional patterns, relationships, and life experiences. I often work with people navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and patterns that leave them feeling stuck or disconnected. Together, we focus on increasing self-awareness, improving emotional balance, and building healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
My work is guided by attachment-based, systemic, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches, helping clients better understand their emotional patterns, relationships, and life experiences.
First session
The first session is a space for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, important life experiences, relationship patterns, goals for therapy, and any challenges you’ve been facing emotionally or personally. My approach during the first session is collaborative and conversational. There is no pressure to share everything at once, we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you while beginning to identify patterns, strengths, and areas we would like to work on together.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is helping clients connect emotional insight with practical change. I work to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions, relationship patterns, anxiety, and life transitions while also developing healthier coping and communication skills. Clients often appreciate my warm and collaborative style, as well as my ability to help them identify underlying patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I aim to balance emotional depth with practical strategies that clients can apply in their daily lives and relationships.
Ideal clients
I work best with adults navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem issues, and difficulties with communication or connection. Many of my clients are highly self-aware individuals who want to better understand their emotional patterns, improve relationships, and feel more grounded and fulfilled in their daily lives. I especially enjoy working with clients who are motivated for self-reflection and personal growth, including individuals struggling with dating, breakups, attachment wounds, family dynamics, and balancing personal needs with relationship or family responsibilities.
Treatment methods
Attachment-based
My attachment-based approach helps individuals understand how past and current relationships influence emotional patterns, self-esteem, anxiety, and connection with others. I focus on creating a safe space to explore emotions, relationship patterns, and healthier ways of coping and connecting.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps individuals understand the deeper emotions and attachment needs underneath anxiety, conflict, and relationship struggles. I use EFT to help clients identify emotional patterns, improve emotional awareness, and create healthier, more secure ways of connecting with themselves and others.
