I am a compassionate and dedicated therapist who believes that every person has the potential to grow, heal and live a meaningful and fulfilling life. my approach to therapy is centered on creating a safe, welcoming and nonjudgemental environment where individuals feel heard, valued and supported as they navigate life's challenges. As a Christian, my faith is an important part of who I am and shapes my desire to serve others with compassion, grace, empathy and genuine care. I believe that emotional, mental physical and spiritual well-being all play a part in helping people experience a healthy and fulfilling life. When appropriate and welcomed, I am honored to incorporate Christian faith and values into the therapeutic process while respecting the individual's personal beliefs, experiences and journey. My goal as a therapist is help people understand themselves more deeply, develop healthy coping strategies, strengthen relationships, overcome obstacles and find hope and courage to move forward. I wany my clients to feel empowered to make positive changes and to recognize their own strengths and abilities. I strive to help people move toward a life that is happy, healthy and fulfilling. It is my privilege to walk alongside my clients during difficult times and to support them as they work toward becoming the best version of themselves.

First session

My primary goal in the first session is to make you feel comfortable and to get to know me and my therapeutic process. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about me and my approach to counseling. I understand that starting therapy can be a scary and vulnerable thing and I will do my best to ease that anxiety. During our first session the primary goal is to build rapport, gather background information and clarify your goals for therapy. This is done both through the intake paperwork and standardized questions about current and past struggles and personal history. Please know that you are not required to answer any questions that make you uncomfortable but any and all information you share with me will help me assist you in the counseling process.

Strengths

I bring more than 20 years of experience, including 9 years working in community service organization and 11 years in private practice. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working extensively with children, adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of concerns. I am a certified child and adolescent therapist and certified anxiety and trauma therapist. My clinical experience includes helping clients navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions and other personal and emotional difficulties. I strive to provide a compassionate, supportive and nonjudgemental environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, develop effective coping strategies and work toward meaningful change. My years in both community mental health and private practice have provided me with a broad understanding of the challenges individuals and families face. My treatment approach draws from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family Systems and Psychodynamic Therapy. I am committed to meeting each client where they are, building a strong therapeutic relationship, and helping them to develop the insight, resilience and skills needed to live a healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is motivated to make positive changes and is willing to actively participate in the therapeutic process. Openness to exploring thoughts, emotion, behaviors and life experiences and a desire to develop practical skills to navigate challenges and improve overall well-being will aid a client in their work with me. I especially enjoy working with clients who recognize the connection between emotional, physical, mental and spiritual health. Who are interested in taking a holistic approach to wellness and are open to incorporating their values and beliefs into therapy. For clients who desire it, I welcome the opportunity to integrate Christian faith and spiritual principles into the therapeutic process. My ideal client is not expected to have everything figured out. Rather, they are willing to be honest, open-minded and engaged in the work of growth and healing. Together, we can identify strengths, build healthy coping skills, improve relationships and develop greater self-awareness and resilience. My goal is to help clients create meaning and lasting changes that support a happy, healthy, purposeful and fulfilled life.

Treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I believe that our values and beliefs shape who we are and play an important part in our emotional and mental health. When appropriate and desired I will explore how a person's Christian faith can help them navigate life's challenges, strengthen relationships and find purpose and fulfillment in their life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I believe that our thoughts play a big part in our emotional and behavioral struggles. Through CBT I seek to identify and challenge problematic thinking, develop healthy coping skills and change unhelpful behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Through DBT I seek to help clients develop the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal skills in order to manage intense emotions, cope with stress and improve relationships.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy creates an environment where the client can be met where they are and explore how past experiences and relationship shape and affect who they are now and how they approach their world and relationships. So that they can find the freedom to make positive changes as they move toward a happier, healthier and more fulfilling life.
