About me

Do you have unresolved issues that impact your daily life? Do you struggle with coping when you’re stressed or have difficulties being kind to yourself? My name is DeVante and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in private practice called Asé Therapy and Social Work Services. I’m dedicated to helping facilitate the completion of your goals by using a holistic approach and identifying pieces of yourself that give you strength and hope. I help support clients in developing tools to manage their emotions and cope during difficult times. I integrate talk therapy from a healing perspective, which is centered on helping folks release unresolved issues and fostering positive visualizations. Asé Therapy and Social Work Services incorporates a social justice and disability justice framework while centering a non-judgmental & brave space. I’m happy to be part of your healing journey and I look forward to working with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with short introductions and then transition into discussing the challenges you have been going through. The first session is focused on connecting, gathering information, exploring your goals, and developing a plan.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The areas I feel are my biggest strengths include empowering clients, making space to vent, validating your lived experiences, and providing hope during difficult times. I help address the root causes of behaviors, identify inter-generational issues, and explore social injustices that may be impacting your mental health. These social injustices may include institutional/individual racism, colorism, ableism, and police/state violence.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, it was difficult locating a mental health therapist in my area that shared the same racial identity as me. This has inspired me to have a particular focus on serving Black/African American male children, youth/adolescents, and adults. I want to be an accessible resource to my community and support them on their journeys.

My treatment methods

Racial trauma treatment

My experience with the racial trauma treatment method has helped me understand my own emotions and how my responses to racial trauma impacts my daily functioning. This treatment method has helped me recognize the importance of locating BIPOC-centered spaces to process emotions. In my practice, I use racial trauma treatment as a healing method to encourage clients to rest often and without guilt. To acknowledge that the pain and anger that they may be feeling is valid. Lastly, encouraging clients to practice boundaries for personal healing while prioritizing self-care and community-care in meaningful ways.

This provider gives you options that work with making changes in your everyday life that can’t help with your depression and or anxiety. He makes you feel comfortable from the beginning. I’m grateful that he’s my therapist.
