Over human history, people have mostly lived in close-knit communities. This has eroded with the advances in transportation and technology. Most people have lost much of the social support our forebearers enjoyed. Mental Health Professionals have taken on this role in their respective communities and are an excellent resource for you to realize your strengths and improve your well-being. When your car breaks down you take it to a mechanic. When your tooth hurts you see a dentist. When your mental health can use a “tune-up,” see a Mental Health Professional!
Our first session will be an exploration of what is motivating you in receiving outside help from your, or lack of, a support system to assist you in problem solving issues that are preventing you from living your best life.
Depends entirely on who the patient is. My style for a 15-year-old Asian female would be different than that of a 70-year-old Hispanic male. My "ideal client" would be a patient who is ready to be honest about what motivates their decision-making process.

I have found that this form of therapy is a good gateway to more intensive therapeutic approaches, which I am also well trained in.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
This is a great approach if you only need help with a few stressors.

I like that he is relatable to folk speak with. He knows how to understand people who are neurodivergent. I like the mindset of encouraging others to figure out how they can solve their own problems, because no two approaches are the same for each individual.

I was nervous going into my first session but Blake is so warm and made it very easy for me to talk to him. although I have problems explaining myself

Therapy should begin with care, not friction. I came seeking support and was met with defensiveness, simplification, and a lack of curiosity about my life. Proposals were generic and felt disconnected from my actual needs. Worst of all, when I pointed out that he started late and was ending early, he scolded me in a combative tone that felt inappropriate for a therapist. The interaction was hurtful and disappointing. I’m grateful I was able to process it with another therapist.
