About me

Peace and many blessings! Thank you again for considering me as your therapist. I offer a helping relationship that is evidence-based and whole-body healing. In this, you will gain a different perspective, work toward your values and goals, and learn tools to maintain these changes. My practice incorporates mindfulness, spiritual exploration, and somatic approaches. We find alternative solutions such as diet and somatic bodywork therapies as ways of healing. My education includes a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Science in Counseling with an Emphasis on Spirituality. I have worked in a variety of settings including as a High School Guidance Counselor, Residential Treatment Center Therapist, and health care employee.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, I usually ask, "Why did you push send?" to identify your current stressors. We take time to discuss your past experiences and begin to identify your counseling needs. I also like to take time to cover some counseling tools. Please note that I do not do evaluations or paperwork for FMLA/Short term disability for new clients.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths as a therapist are my ability to be an active listener, being nonjudgmental, having a down-to-earth attitude, and knowing that a healthy dose of laughter can cure almost anything. The goal of my work is to help clients live as healthy and peaceful of a life as possible. That can include getting through difficult times in their lives, which is a large part of what many of my clients return for and stay with me for. I truly value every person I work with.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am fortunate enough to have been involved in helping relationships with women, men, and families. Many of them have had to cope with difficult transitions such as divorce, returning to the workforce, grief, dietary changes, or leaving their family home to pursue a college degree.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based, values-directed behavioral therapy that helps clients move in the direction of their values to have fuller and more meaningful lives. I’ve been an ACT therapist for seven years, and it has helped my clients gain a better understanding of their life condition and improve their overall vitality. I also use it as a psychoeducational tool to help them develop the knowledge and skills they need to maintain healthy habits.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can teach you strategies to modify unhelpful thoughts (cognitions) and behaviors. I use CBT as a psychoeducational tool to help clients get a better understanding of their thinking, behaviors, and feelings. This allows them to decrease their symptoms and improve their overall functioning.

Adlerian

I use the Adlerian psychotherapy approach to help my clients attain goals and overcome feelings of inferiority. I approach therapy with a holistic perspective and believe that the path to growth is based on a foundation of encouragement and support. It's my goal as a therapist to create a trusted environment in which clients feel safe to talk openly about any issue, which helps me to support clients' efforts through insight.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation involves helping clients understand their diagnosis, their treatment options, and how to manage their mental health condition, including coping strategies.

Mind-body approach

As a mental health practitioner, I use mind-body healing techniques. These techniques enhance the mind's interactions with bodily function to induce relaxation. The aim of these techniques is to improve overall health and well-being.
