LMFT, 20 years of experience
New to Grow
I’m Kasi Barkawi-Buck, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to supporting adults through life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. I provide a warm, collaborative space where clients can explore emotions, strengthen coping skills, and work through stress, anxiety, relationship concerns, and past trauma. My goal is to help individuals build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and create a more balanced, fulfilling life.
During our first session, we’ll create a safe and supportive space where you can feel secure in sharing what’s on your mind. We’ll review the limits of confidentiality, take time to understand what brought you to therapy, and explore your unique concerns, stressors, and challenges. We’ll engage in a thorough assessment, discussing your emotional and behavioral patterns, and the changes you hope to achieve. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to work together to identify both your immediate needs and long-term goals. The first session is about laying the groundwork for our work together, building trust, and establishing a collaborative foundation for growth and healing.
My journey into the helping profession has been shaped by diverse experiences. I began my career in hospital settings and spent time working in psychiatric hospitals, group homes, and residential facilities. These experiences provided me with valuable hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the complexities of mental health and human behavior. Later, I gained significant insight while working in group practice settings, further enriching my skill set and knowledge base. I bring a compassionate, client-centered approach that combines honesty, empathy, and practical strategies to help clients navigate life’s challenges. I guide and support you as you explore your emotions, reflect on your efforts toward change, and experience meaningful “aha” moments. My approach focuses on addressing the core of the true issue while gently but directly confronting patterns or barriers that may be holding you back. I provide the space and time needed to process insights, spark transformation, and focus on what you want to achieve. I integrate an eclectic approach, including CBT, ACT, EMDR, mindfulness, and solution-focused strategies, tailoring therapy to your unique needs. I also bring a sense of humor and realism when appropriate, while fostering a safe, supportive environment for growth and lasting change.
My ideal clients are adults seeking support with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, trauma, or major life transitions. They’re motivated to better understand themselves, improve communication, and build healthier coping skills. I work best with individuals who are open to personal growth, ready to explore new perspectives, and committed to creating meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
I take an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from a range of evidence-based and humanistic modalities to meet each client’s unique needs. My training includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Stress Management, Humanistic approaches, EMDR, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Psychoanalytic Therapy, and Solution-Focused techniques. This integrative style allows me to provide flexible, personalized, and effective support.
