Theresa Lee-Flores
As a clinical social worker I've had the opportunity to work with folks who are in all stages of life. I work with individuals facing struggles with: depression, anxiety, family and interpersonal conflict, grief, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and enhancing self-awareness. I prefer to provide one-on-one therapy rather than couples' work, and enjoy working with adolescents and adults of all ages. My current work leans upon on the theoretical frameworks of: cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), client-centered, and solution focused therapies. I can assist you to develop healthy coping strategies through self-evaluation, skill building, self- acceptance and healing from abuse. Achieving a healthier approach to the way you think, make decisions, and relate to others can help clear a way to the path you want to take!

First session
In your first session, I usually ask you to share relevant information and experiences that are important to why you're here. It will be a low-pressure discussion where you can help to define your comfort level for your sessions. I will also encourage you to ask me questions about myself and my practice.
Strengths
I'd like to help you pinpoint problem areas in patterns of behavior through a process of self reflection. Having better control over your mood can feel like an impossible feat, but you have the ability to develop healthy coping strategies- through self-evaluation, skill building, and receiving acceptance and healing. Achieving a healthier approach to the way you think, make decisions, and relate to others can help clear a way to the path you want to take! Whether you seek healing from some form of abuse or trauma or you're feeling stuck in an unhealthy pattern in your life, I can assist you in "getting out of your own way" and working to gain greater joy and success in life.
Ideal clients
My preferred clients are within these groups: 24 and older, older adults, persons of color, and Christian. I believe that therapy is more effective when clients are willing to take a risk, in terms of being open to adopting a new mindset. This includes being willing to try new coping strategies and to try something outside of your comfort zone.
Treatment methods
Psychodynamic
In my practice I incorporate a few different therapy styles. I implement them according to the client's needs. Psychodynamic therapy is one that is underlying all of the work I do, which dives in to an individual's past and experiences that have shaped who they are today. CBT, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness techniques are other treatment modalities I use a lot of in my work.
