I am a licensed doctoral psychologist in New York with 20 years of professional work experience I work mostly with children, adolescents, and their families. As a licensed psychologist and a board-certified behavior analyst, I have experience with the full range of developmental disorders, especially neurodivergence (e.g., on the autism spectrum). I have experience in helping clients with school-based issues, anxiety, depression, family conflicts, trauma, abuse, & parenting issues. I am also a registered yoga instructor at the 500-hour level and use mindfulness meditation as a part of my practice. I believe that clients are the experts of their story and I focus on strengths and normalization. Seeking therapeutic intervention is not only smart; it also represents an additive model, not a deficit. I serve as your advocate in order to promote functioning at optimal levels throughout the lifespan.

First session

I hope clients leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful. While meaningful change takes time, my goal is to help you begin identifying practical next steps and to create a collaborative plan that supports your personal goals and values. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and determine whether we're a good fit. You'll have space to share your story, discuss the challenges you're facing, and identify what you would like to change. My goal is for you to leave with a clearer understanding of your concerns, a sense of direction, and the beginning of a plan that we can work on together.

Strengths

I am pragmatic in my approach. I am here to listen and provide support, yes, but mostly I am here to help alleviate distress and improve coping with all of life's challenges. I help my clients set specific goals. There is usually homework inspired by developing a daily mindfulness practice.

Ideal clients

I work best with clients who are ready to be active participants in their own change process. Therapy is rarely a quick fix, and meaningful growth often happens between sessions. My ideal client is willing to show up, be honest, try new strategies, reflect on their experiences, and practice skills outside of therapy. They don't need to be perfect, and setbacks are expected, but they are committed to making positive changes and working collaboratively toward their goals.

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients create a life that feels meaningful and aligned with what matters most to them. In our work together, we'll explore the challenges you're facing with curiosity and compassion while identifying the values, strengths, and goals that can help guide you forward. Rather than focusing on "fixing" every difficult thought or emotion, we'll work on building the skills needed to navigate life's challenges more effectively and keep moving toward the things that are important to you. I believe that lasting change comes from small, consistent steps, and I strive to provide a supportive, encouraging space where you feel understood, challenged when needed, and empowered to make meaningful changes both in and outside of our sessions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is an important part of my therapeutic approach because it helps clients slow down, become more aware of their thoughts and emotions, and respond to challenges with greater intention rather than reacting automatically. In our work together, I may incorporate simple mindfulness practices to help you stay grounded in the present moment, increase self-awareness, and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself. Mindfulness is not about emptying your mind or eliminating difficult feelings. Instead, it involves learning how to notice your experiences with curiosity and acceptance so that you can make choices that are consistent with your values and goals. Over time, these skills can help reduce stress, improve emotional resilience, and support lasting personal growth.
