My name is Debra, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Christian Counselor, and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. I earned my degree from Adams State University in 2018, subsequently obtained licensure, and established my private practice in 2022. With a foundation of both professional training and personal insight, I assist clients in enhancing their mental health and overall wellbeing. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I enjoy walking, utilizing whirlpool therapy, traveling, and engaging in quality time with family and friends.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we will begin by introducing ourselves to establish a comfortable and supportive environment. This initial meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and set the foundation for our work together. We will then complete your assessment, which involves gathering important information about your background, experiences, and current situation. This assessment helps ensure that our counseling sessions are tailored to your specific needs. Next, we will discuss your personal history and explore the reasons that led you to seek counseling. Understanding your past and your current concerns allows us to better identify the areas where you would like support and change. Together, we will begin to develop a plan for addressing your concerns. This collaborative process sets goals and lays out the steps we will take to help you move forward and achieve positive outcomes.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My genuine and authentic approach is designed to foster a sense of comfort and safety for all clients. I believe that establishing trust is the foundation for productive and meaningful therapeutic work. Throughout each session, I offer understanding and compassion, ensuring that you feel heard and respected. I strive to create an environment where you can freely express your thoughts and feelings without judgment. In every interaction, I bring professional competence and a patient, supportive presence. My commitment is to walk alongside you as you work toward meaningful change, offering encouragement and guidance at every step.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Change can often feel challenging, requiring strength and bravery to continue making progress, especially during difficult times. It is common to feel uncertain about where to begin or to encounter obstacles along the way. During these moments, it's important to remember that hope remains, and you are not alone in your journey. Reaching out for support from someone with an objective perspective can make a meaningful difference, helping you navigate your path and work through the challenges you face.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, particularly when treating depression and anxiety. This approach focuses on how a person's thought patterns can either intensify or alleviate their symptoms. By examining and adjusting these thought processes, clients can gain greater control over their emotional well-being.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution Focused therapy is another method I apply in my practice. This approach centers on identifying the core problem and actively searching for solutions to reduce or resolve the issues at hand. The goal is to help clients move forward by finding practical strategies that address their concerns.
Christian Counseling
For those interested in exploring their challenges from a Christian perspective, I offer Christian Counseling. This method supports clients in understanding and addressing their issues within the framework of their faith, providing guidance that is aligned with their spiritual beliefs.
Compassion Focused
Compassion Focused Therapy is another technique I incorporate, teaching clients how to be kinder and more compassionate toward themselves. By reducing self-criticism and fostering self-acceptance, this method helps individuals develop healthier relationships with themselves.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is another therapeutic approach I use with clients. This model views the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own unique perspective, feelings, and motivations. By helping clients recognize and understand these internal parts, IFS enables them to foster internal harmony and self-leadership. Through this process, individuals can address inner conflicts, promote healing, and achieve a greater sense of well-being.
