About me

**ACCEPTING ADULTS (18+) ONLY** Hi, I'm Yang. And I'm here to help you heal from self-abandonment and emotional dysregulation. Self-abandonment occurs when we struggle to stand up for our needs and live by our authentic values; often, we don't even know what they are. Those who struggle with self-abandonment don't feel like they know who they really are, and what they want, and often feel directionless and ungrounded. We feel small, afraid, anxious, aggressive and dependent on others. Emotional dysregulation occurs when we don't understand our emotions and how to manage them. They control us, instead of the other way around. We behave in ways we wish we didn't, and we build up shame around those behaviors as if they are who we are. We cannot separate our emotions from who we are. These issues often lie at the heart of different mental health struggles, such as depression, anxiety, as well as many relationship challenges. The good news is that resolving these, therefore, can potentially lead to ripple effects of change in your life.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, we will discuss your top goals and my approach. We will discuss fit and scheduling.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths are: 1) my strong and extensive background in research, which allows me to bring a highly evidence-based approach; 2) my personal experience with mental health, allowing me to speak with detail and knowledge based on actually having seen results in my own life; 3) my presence, which is direct, compassionate, and hopeful that there IS a way to resolve this challenge for you.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I focus heavily on clarifying genuine goals and values so I can help clients grow self discipline in an authentic and organic manner.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I have over 10 years of experience with trauma through therapy, research, and personal experience. This allows me to see deep roots of complex trauma in my clients' fragmented experiences and feelings. I am, therefore, able to offer a clear roadmap that integrates several issues at once, leading to a more efficient and direct process.

Polyvagal Therapy

I lean heavily on somatic experiences and perspectives. I believe disembodiment and dissociation are common issues that are often tricky to tackle without understanding the nervous system, and I am heavily invested in helping my clients feel secure in their bodies through skilled nervous system regulation.

I’m deeply grateful for the care and support I received from my therapist jiang . What stood out most was their direct and authentic approach. They didn’t sugarcoat things, but instead helped me face difficult truths with empathy and clarity. That honesty, paired with consistent support, helped me grow, heal, and understand myself in ways I hadn't before. I always felt heard, never judged, and truly supported. I can't thank them enough for guiding me through that journey.
