In my many years of experience, I have treated a broad range of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. I frequently utilize cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and mindfulness-which is particularly helpful for anxiety-based issues. I will use one or more of the treatment modalities to give you the best outcome in therapy.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I take a person-centered approach to mental health therapy focusing on your individual needs, values and personal goals. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you can bring forth your concerns. I will honor and respect your life experiences and strive to meet you with dignity, compassion and understanding.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I understand that change can be both frightening and exciting at the same time. I understand how incredibly difficult it is to speak with someone you don't know with very personal and sensitive information. I will gently challenge you when needed to help you grow. At times, I will also simply be an attentive listener to understand your concerns and your perspective.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My client would be someone who is dealing with current life struggles which may include depression, anxiety, trauma and attention-deficit disorder. I would also help clients who are experiencing major life events such as divorce, death, loss of a job or interpersonal issues. The goal would be to give my client the tools and skills needed to help them negotiate these issues.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavior therapy is based upon the idea that your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected. Cognitive behavior therapy is used to identify thinking patterns that are not helpful and replace them with ones that are more realistic and useful.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is used to help a client process "stuck" traumatic or painful memories. It uses eye movements to help your brain reprocess these memories, so they no longer feel painful.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is used to help a client resolve internal mixed feelings about a change. It helps the client overcome the resistance they have about making a change and helps them find their own inner motivation to change.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness helps a client become fully present in the moment. It focuses on being aware of body sensations, feelings and environment. Mindfulness simply recognizes thoughts and lets them go without getting stuck on them. It is particularly helpful to stop your mind from focusing on anxiety and obsessive thoughts.
