Hi, my name is Gerald Anderson. I am a licensed Therapist in California, an LMFT. I have worked as a therapist for a long time. Helping people from many diverse back grounds. I have worked with couples, individuals, and children, helping them to have the support and the tools to process and work through their problems, marital conflicts. I have also worked with drug involved individuals, who are in recovery and I am familiar with the 12 step process.
In our first session we will talk about your problems or marital issues. I will learn about you, you will learn about me, and together we will work on a treatment plan that you feel comfortable with to address any of the questions you may have about the process of therapy.
I have a great deal of experience understanding emotional and marital issues, and how they block growth both for individuals and for couples.
I have worked with a very diverse background of people.

Couples Counseling
I use a perspective based approach to couples counseling based on, the work or Robert Selman who developed a developmental approach to counseling and therapy. I Also use a family systems approach as well as ,cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help couples develop perspectives toward each others emotions, in order to be responsive to their partners needs. This facilitates the development, of a coordinated perspective on their relationship.
Family Therapy
I use family therapy, to help families develop appropraite boundaries with each other to discourage conflict, and negative behaviors.
Psychodynamic
I use this therapy to help clients resolve issues related to PTSD.

I shared one vulnerable childhood history and instead of gathering more data or data about my partner, he hyper-focused on that as being the root of most of our problems and was much too conclusory in our very first session and drew unreasonable conclusions about the reason for our conflicts without trying to understand more clearly or deeply and it worsened our relations - very reckless

Gerald’s style was not a good fit for our family. We came to Gerald to improve our mother son relationship. My son is a 17 year old who has behavioral problems and a traumatic past. Although my son was arguing with the therapist, it’s inappropriate for a therapist to respond to any patient with the words and I quote, “ you don’t know how to live your fucking life”. Let alone saying that to 17-year-old boy.
