About me

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, with 29 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families in medical centers, community agencies, and private practice. I have worked across both outpatient and inpatient settings and have been internationally registered in Play Therapy since 2000. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and bring a multicultural perspective to my work. Throughout my career, I have developed and contributed to programs serving individuals and families facing trauma, displacement, parenting challenges, and significant life transitions. My approach is compassionate, practical, individualized, and systemic. I recognize that each person is unique, while also understanding that we do not live in isolation. Our well-being, challenges, and possibilities for growth are deeply connected to the relationships, families, communities, workplaces, and other groups and systems of which we are a part. I draw from Humanistic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, systemic, and other integrative approaches, adapting my work to each person and their circumstances. I support clients navigating anxiety, grief, stress, self-esteem, relationships, parenting, women's issues, and major life transitions. I believe that each person has an inherent capacity for growth and change. My role is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can gain clarity, reconnect with your strengths, understand the patterns and relationships that influence your life, and develop practical tools for meaningful and lasting change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know one another—what brings you to therapy, your current challenges, personal background, and your hopes and goals for the work ahead. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history and current life context, as well as any emotional or relational concerns you want to address. This initial session is the beginning of a general assessment, which may continue across several sessions so we can build a fuller picture together—at a comfortable pace. We’ll begin identifying the goals most important to you—whether it's managing anxiety, navigating change, healing from grief, or increasing self-confidence. Throughout the process, I’ll support you in discovering your own insights, values, and priorities in a space that is safe, respectful, and deeply supportive.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets my work apart is the balance of compassionate, nonjudgmental presence, deep insight, practical guidance, and individualized care I bring to each session. I see each person as a whole, while also recognizing that our experiences, choices, and well-being are shaped by the relationships, families, communities, and other systems in which we live. I work collaboratively with adults who may feel stuck, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain during times of transition. Many clients come to therapy with anxiety, grief, self-doubt, relationship challenges, or a sense that something in their lives needs to change. I help them slow down, gain clarity, and better understand the internal and relational patterns that may be influencing their thoughts, emotions, and choices. My approach is purposeful and integrative. Together, we explore what may be holding you back, including limiting beliefs, emotional experiences, relationship dynamics, and patterns that may no longer serve you. We then identify practical tools, new perspectives, and meaningful steps that support growth and lasting change. I believe therapy is not simply about relieving symptoms. It is also an opportunity to develop greater self-awareness, strengthen relationships, reconnect with your values and strengths, and create a life that feels more authentic and purposeful. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. My goal is to offer a safe, supportive space where you can feel understood, gain clarity, and develop the confidence and tools to move forward with greater intention.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I specialize in working with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained—and who are ready to take meaningful steps toward a more grounded, fulfilling life. You may be navigating a life change that’s left you uncertain, facing anxiety that’s interfering with your peace of mind, or carrying grief, pressure, or self-doubt that feels too heavy to manage alone. You might find yourself functioning on the outside, but struggling internally—juggling responsibilities while longing for clarity, calm, and a deeper sense of purpose. Maybe you're tired of repeating the same patterns or feeling emotionally disconnected from the person you know you could be. In our work together, I’ll help you uncover what’s been holding you back and develop the insight, tools, and emotional resilience to move forward. You'll have a safe space to process your experiences, learn how to manage stress more effectively, and reconnect with your strengths and values. You’ll begin to feel more confident in your decisions, clearer about your direction, more in control of your life, and with greater emotional freedom. When you're ready to take the next step toward greater clarity, balance, and emotional freedom, schedule your first session. I’ll be here to support you every step of the way.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

In my work, I believe that every person has an inner drive toward growth, healing, and wholeness. That’s the foundation of the humanistic approach—to view you not as a diagnosis or a problem to be solved, but as a whole person with wisdom, potential, and a unique story that matters. I primarily draw from Person-Centered Therapy, which means I offer you a space that is deeply respectful, empathic, and nonjudgmental. I don’t assume the role of expert over your life—instead, I walk beside you as you rediscover who you are, what you feel, and what you truly want. This kind of therapeutic relationship creates the conditions for change by fostering trust, self-acceptance, and personal clarity. In addition to the emotional and psychological dimensions, I view each client as a whole being—which includes the physical body, social environment, relationships, and often a spiritual or transcendental dimension. Inspired in part by Jungian psychology, I honor those deeper layers of experience: dreams, symbols, intuition, and the search for meaning beyond the immediate. These are important parts of the healing journey for many people. Depending on your needs and preferences, I may integrate evidence-based mind-body tools like EFT (tapping), breath work, or guided imagery among other tools to help release emotional blockages, calm the nervous system, and deepen self-awareness. These practices are gentle, effective, and empowering—especially for clients who are ready to engage both cognitively and somatically in their healing. Ultimately, my goal is to support you in becoming more fully yourself—grounded, alive, and connected—to your truth, your relationships, and your sense of purpose.

Motivational Interviewing

Many of the clients I work with are highly motivated to grow—but they still feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to move forward. That’s why I use Motivational Interviewing (MI)—a collaborative and respectful approach that helps you explore what’s getting in the way and reconnect with your own reasons for change. In MI, I don’t tell you what to do or push you in a certain direction. Instead, we work together to gently uncover the inner voice that already knows what matters to you. We look at the ambivalence—those “yes, but…” moments—and give them space, so you can gain clarity and make choices that truly reflect your values. This approach is especially helpful during life transitions or when you’re facing big decisions. It supports personal responsibility, but in a compassionate and nonjudgmental way. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and MI helps bring that wisdom to the surface. To support this process, I may integrate mind-body tools like EFT (tapping), breath work, or guided imagery—especially when you’re feeling emotionally blocked or disconnected. These practices can help you regulate your nervous system, reduce anxiety, and get back in touch with your goals on a deeper level—not just mentally, but emotionally and physically. By combining Motivational Interviewing with holistic tools, I help you move from feeling stuck to feeling empowered—able to take steady, meaningful steps toward the life you want to live.

Faith based therapy

For many of the clients I work with, faith and spirituality are essential parts of who they are—not just beliefs, but living sources of strength, meaning, and guidance. That’s why I offer faith-based therapy for those who want their spiritual or religious values to be included in the healing process. I believe that emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual well-being are deeply interconnected. When we explore life’s challenges—such as grief, anxiety, low self-worth, or a loss of direction—it's important to include the spiritual dimension of your experience if that’s meaningful to you. Whether you're drawing from a specific tradition or a more personal sense of connection to something greater, I create space for that part of your identity to be fully honored. In our work together, your faith is not treated as a side note—it becomes a resource. It may help you understand your pain, find peace in uncertainty, or reconnect with your values and purpose. If you come from a Christian background, and you request it, we may also include prayer, scripture, or Christ-centered reflection as part of your journey. At the same time, I integrate evidence-based tools such as breath work, guided imagery, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to support emotional release, regulate your nervous system, and reduce stress or anxiety. These practices align beautifully with many spiritual traditions because they bring you into stillness, presence, and embodiment—qualities that deepen self-awareness and connection with the Divine. My approach is never about imposing beliefs. It’s about meeting you where you are, offering tools and guidance that resonate with your faith, and supporting you in becoming more grounded, whole, and spiritually aligned as you move forward.
