Dr. Angie Cuyler
I've been a licensed psychotherapist since 2009, working with teens (15 and up) and adults, including military service members and their families, community mental health clients, and people in crisis. I help with anxiety, stress, grief, life transitions, parenting challenges, couples issues, and teen concerns. My approach is flexible. I draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused, person-centered, humanistic, psychodynamic, and family systems therapy, and I tailor our work to fit you. My sessions are relaxed and welcoming. I use humor and real-life examples, and when it will help you grow, I'll gently challenge you. As a parent who loves singing and sports, I bring my whole self into the room. You don't need to have it all figured out. Just come ready to be honest and open, and together we'll work toward clarity and feeling empowered on your path forward. All sessions are offered via telehealth.
I take time to understand the full picture of what you're facing, so nothing important gets missed. Together, we'll find clarity and a new path forward.
First session
After our first session, I want you to leave feeling that you've found the right place. My hope is that you'll feel heard, understood, and safe, maybe a little lighter than when you walked in. Most of all, I want you to leave with a sense of hope: that change is possible, that you don't have to figure it out alone, and that we're in this together.
Strengths
I'm a patient, attentive listener, and I'm truly passionate about helping people grow. I take time to understand the full picture of what you're facing, so nothing important gets missed. What sets my approach apart is that I don't use a one-size-fits-all method. With training in CBT, DBT, ACT, and several other approaches, I tailor our work to fit you. My sessions feel relaxed and welcoming, with humor and real-life examples, but I'll also gently challenge you when it will help you move forward. With experience since 2009, including crisis work and supporting military families, I'm comfortable walking with you through whatever you bring, big or small.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to do the work, whether they're a teen (15 and up) or an adult. You might be dealing with anxiety, stress, grief, a major life transition, parenting challenges, or relationship struggles. You don't need to have everything figured out; you just need to be willing to be honest, open, and a little vulnerable. If you're looking to gain clarity, build healthier patterns, and feel more empowered in your life, we'll be a great fit.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients see how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we'll identify thought patterns that may be fueling anxiety, stress, or conflict, and look at whether those thoughts are accurate or helpful. From there, we'll practice replacing them with more balanced ways of thinking and try out new behaviors that support your goals. CBT is practical and goal-focused, so you'll leave sessions with tools you can use right away in everyday life. I often blend it with other approaches, tailoring it to fit you and what you're working on.
