Amy Fujino
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and have been practicing in the field of Mental Health since 2005. I have worked in a variety of settings including Inpatient Hospitalization, Community Outpatient, Not-for-Profit Community Mental Health settings and most recently, Group Practice.
In Touch Counseling Center, where you reach your potential today for success tomorrow".
I started my practice "In Touch Counseling Center" in 2022 and have serviced individuals, families & couples from ages 6-75 and love it! I also have a desire to provide Group Therapy in the future to adolescents and adults.
First session
My sessions are unstructured at first as I never have a pre-planned agenda. The first few minutes is spent checking in with my client on how they are feeling, what struggles are most evident for them and together, we decide what the remainder of the session will focus on. I encourage my clients to be as sincere as possible and not to think they have to "present well", but rather to show what you are struggling with.
Strengths
After 21 years of service, I have grown my skills sets as a behavioral counselor through observation, helping, connecting, validating and empathizing with my clients and have been told I am very good at it! I am an extrovert, meaning that I feel a strong connection, energy and desire to be around others. I have managed to keep healthy boundaries with my work and personal life, which has allowed me to sustain career satisfaction, motivation and confidence in my field and prevention of burnout. For all these reasons, I believe I bring a unique capability to help a robust population and remain just as invested in helping and learning today, as much as when I started in 2005.
Ideal clients
Clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief over loss, intense emotionality, chronic stress, parenting effectiveness, burnout, negative body image, eating disorders and low self-worth are my ideal clients. I work well with children ages 8-12, teens and adults ages 20-70. Anyone who is in search of clarity, answers, validation or a desire to learn skills, look no further! I love what I do and embrace all who entrust me with their care.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have been using Dialectical Behavior Therapy since 2007 and have found the core skills of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness to be life skills that virtually any person regardless of their diagnosis, symptoms or past treatment history can learn, apply and gain mastery over time. I have workbooks, games and cards that I use to teach these skills to all ages and have great enthusiasm in demonstrating how these skills are applied.
