You may be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in painful patterns that make it hard to manage daily life, relationships, or your sense of self-worth. Sometimes these struggles are tied to current life challenges, and other times they are connected to earlier experiences that continue to affect how you feel, relate to others, and respond to stress today. Therapy can help you better understand what is going on and begin making meaningful changes. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking licensed psychotherapist and the author of Healing Childhood Trauma. I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, low self-worth, and relationship difficulties. I help clients explore the patterns that may be keeping them stuck while building healthier ways of coping, relating, and moving through daily life. My approach is warm, straightforward, and collaborative. I work with respect for your pace and aim to create a space where you can better understand your experiences, work through emotional pain, and build more secure patterns in your life and relationships. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. I support you through this process with the goal of helping you feel more secure, more confident, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges. When you feel ready to begin, I invite you to schedule a first session.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is a space for us to get to know each other and begin building a sense of safety and trust. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to work on, and any concerns or questions you may have about the process. There is no pressure to share everything at once, your comfort and pace are always respected. I will ask some questions to better understand your current challenges, personal history, and what feels most important to you right now. This is not an interrogation or an evaluation, but a collaborative conversation meant to help me understand your experiences and goals. You are always free to pause, redirect, or let me know if something feels uncomfortable. During our first session, I will also explain how I work, answer any questions about therapy, and clarify practical details such as confidentiality and expectations. Together, we will begin to identify areas of focus and what a helpful path forward might look like. Many clients leave the first session feeling relieved, clearer about their next steps, and more hopeful. My goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard and understood. Many clients come to therapy carrying shame, self-doubt, or long-standing emotional wounds. I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, respect, and authenticity, because meaningful change happens most effectively when clients feel emotionally safe and supported. My approach is both humanistic and trauma-informed, which means I view clients as whole people rather than problems to be fixed. I work collaboratively, honoring each person’s pace, lived experience, and personal values. Rather than relying on rigid techniques or one-size-fits-all solutions, I tailor therapy to the individual, recognizing that healing looks different for everyone. A key strength of my work is my focus on understanding how early experiences particularly childhood and relational trauma shape emotional patterns, beliefs, and relationships in adulthood. I help clients make sense of these connections without pathologizing them. Many people find relief in realizing that their struggles are understandable responses to past experiences, not personal failures. This reframing often reduces shame and opens the door to self-compassion and growth. I am also deeply strength-based in my approach. Even when clients feel stuck or discouraged, I help them identify resilience, coping skills, and inner resources that may have gone unrecognized. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or deficits, I support clients in building on what is already working, which fosters confidence, empowerment, and sustainable change. Another strength of my work is balancing insight with practicality. While self-awareness is an important part of therapy, I also help clients translate insight into real-life change. This may include developing healthier boundaries, improving emotional regulation, strengthening communication, or learning to respond differently to stress and relational challenges. Therapy becomes not only a space for reflection, but also a place to practice new ways of relating to oneself and others. I am particularly skilled at working with clients who struggle with anxiety, low self-esteem, people-pleasing, and difficulty trusting themselves or others. Many of my clients feel disconnected from their sense of identity or unsure of what they truly want. I help clients reconnect with their values, clarify their goals, and develop a stronger sense of personal agency so they can make choices that feel aligned and authentic. My trauma-informed lens means I am attentive to pacing, emotional safety, and nervous system awareness. I do not rush clients into revisiting painful experiences before they feel ready. Instead, I help them build stability, grounding, and internal resources first. This approach allows clients to engage in deeper work without feeling overwhelmed or re-traumatized. Clients often describe my style as calm, thoughtful, and supportive, while also being honest and grounded. I offer gentle guidance and reflection without being directive or judgmental. I believe therapy works best as a partnership, where clients are encouraged to trust their own insight and inner wisdom rather than relying solely on external validation. Another strength I bring to my work is consistency and reliability. I understand that many clients have experienced relationships where their needs were overlooked or invalidated. I aim to be a steady, attuned presence, which helps clients experience what a healthy, respectful relationship can feel like. Over time, this experience often supports improved self-trust and healthier relationships outside of therapy. Finally, my commitment to continued learning and reflection strengthens my clinical work. I regularly integrate research, clinical experience, and ongoing professional development to ensure that my approach remains thoughtful, ethical, and responsive to clients’ needs. My work is guided by compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique journey. Overall, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to combine warmth with insight, compassion with structure, and safety with growth. I help clients understand themselves more deeply, heal from past experiences, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), utilizing the strategies daily and having completed my in-depth training during my graduate studies. In my practice, I use CBT as an approach to help clients understand the relation between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, we work together to develop healthier behaviors and coping strategies. This method has proven effective in treating a wide range of psychological issues, including anxiety, depression, and stress management. I integrate CBT with practical exercises and homework assignments to reinforce learning and promote change outside of therapy sessions.

Motivational Interviewing

I have trained and been trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI) for many years and have successfully incorporated it into my therapy sessions since I began as a therapist. This client-centered counseling style is effective for fostering intrinsic motivation to change. In my practice, I use MI techniques to help clients articulate their personal reasons for wanting to make changes in their lives. I guide clients toward their own solutions, enhancing their commitment to change. Through using MI we can create a non-confrontational environment where clients feel supported to uncover and strengthen their drive towards their goals.

Trauma Informed Care

Childhood trauma is a central focus of my work. I have dedicated much of my clinical practice to understanding how early experiences shape emotional patterns, relationships, and self-worth in adulthood. I am also the author of Healing Childhood Trauma: Your Guide to Finally Living a Happy and Fulfilled Life, which reflects both my professional experience and commitment to this area. My approach to trauma-informed care emphasizes safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment. I work at a pace that feels respectful and manageable, helping clients make sense of their experiences without feeling overwhelmed or re-traumatized. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we explore how trauma has impacted the nervous system, emotions, and beliefs—while also identifying strengths and pathways toward healing.

Humanistic

Some clients prefer to be allowed to work through issues rather than telling them what they should do, I collaborate with them to explore their thoughts, emotions, values, and strengths. This approach supports self-awareness, personal growth, and the ability to make meaningful, self-directed changes. I believe that healing happens within a trusting therapeutic relationship, and that clients already possess the inner resources needed for growth. Therapy becomes a space to reconnect with those strengths, develop clarity, and move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.

Strength-Based

My work is rooted in a strength-based approach that focuses on identifying and building upon each client’s existing abilities, resilience, and values. Rather than viewing people through a lens of deficits or diagnoses, I help clients recognize what is already working and use those strengths to navigate challenges. I collaborate with clients to uncover past successes, coping skills, and personal resources, even when they may not be immediately visible. This approach supports empowerment, confidence, and meaningful change by reinforcing clients’ capacity to grow, heal, and make choices that align with their goals.
