LPC/MHSP, 15 years of experience

Authentic

Welcome! Feeling stuck? Exploring what it means to live authentically? A woman seeking to create deeper/improved connections in relationships or your marriage, a mother striving for balance, or someone navigating a specific challenge. If so, I’d love to help. I’m Jenny, a 44y/o Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience. I grew up in Middle Tennessee, surrounded by animals and Faith. Parents owned veterinary practices, mom served as a youth director, instilling in me a love for animals and a strong Christian Faith. Married 21 years to a wonderfully supportive husband. Marriage can be challenging, but I believe it’s one of life’s most rewarding journeys when approached with unconditional love and commitment. Together, we’ve weathered highs and lows, and through it all, I’ve learned every challenge is just data and an opportunity for growth. Blessed with two intelligent and vibrant daughters who keep life interesting and continually teach me about resilience, perspective, and love. Since early teen, I’ve been “go-to” person for friends and family during struggles, which inspired my passion for counseling. Hold Bachelor’s in Psychology from UTK, and Master’s in Counseling and Human Development. I’ve worked in diverse mental health settings, including women’s prisons, crisis units, inpatient, outpatient, substance abuse, and private practice. These experiences have equipped me to work with a diverse range of clients and issues. Rest assured—nothing you share will shock me! I believe you are your own best counselor and know yourself best. My role is to guide you, provide reassurance, and equip you with tools to help you navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience. Together, we’ll create a safe and meaningful space to process your experiences, explore solutions, and rediscover your balance. Ready to embrace growth and find your balance? I’d be honored to support you on this journey!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first counseling session with me, you can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where we’ll begin building trust and understanding. We’ll start with introductions, discuss confidentiality, and explore what brings you to counseling at your own pace. I’ll ask questions about your background, relationships, and coping strategies to gain a full picture of your experiences. Together, we’ll identify your goals and outline a plan tailored to your needs, whether it’s managing stress, improving relationships, or fostering personal growth. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer sense of the counseling process and the steps we’ll take together to support your journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my greatest strengths come from both my own life experiences and the personal therapy I’ve undergone—because let’s face it, we all have our challenges! My journey has given me valuable insights, particularly in areas like relationships women have, anxiety, depressive tendencies, negative thinking patterns & self-talk, stress, and self-esteem. I view myself as a lifelong learner in this field, continually exploring new approaches and tools to support both my growth and that of my clients. I’m passionate about challenging myself, expanding my expertise, and finding innovative ways to help others navigate life’s complexities with confidence and resilience.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will help my clients by identifying and challenging negative thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. It equips clients with practical tools like relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and problem-solving strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. By promoting self-awareness and encouraging healthier thinking, CBT fosters emotional regulation and positive behavioral changes. Clients learn to break unhelpful cycles, set realistic goals, and engage in rewarding activities, making CBT an effective, time-focused approach for addressing a wide range of mental health challenges.

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy can help my clients by engaging them in activities and experiences that encourage self-expression and uncover deeper emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. It moves beyond traditional talk therapy, using techniques like role-playing, creative arts, or guided imagery to explore unresolved issues and hidden emotions. By bringing feelings and experiences to the surface in a safe environment, clients can process and release emotional blocks, gain new insights, and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This hands-on approach fosters personal growth, self-awareness, and improved emotional well-being. It is amazing what we will find to work on and such relief you are going to feel letting go of things!

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy, developed by Carl Rogers, will help my clients by providing a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where they feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. I will offer empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine understanding, fostering a strong therapeutic relationship between us. This approach empowers my clients to trust their inner experiences, gain self-awareness, and tap into their capacity for personal growth and self-healing. By focusing on their perspective and strengths, person-centered therapy helps individuals build self-esteem, resolve inner conflicts, and make meaningful changes in their lives.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) can help my clients by addressing and transforming their emotional experiences to promote healing and growth. It focuses on identifying, understanding, and processing emotions to uncover their underlying needs and meanings. Through a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, clients learn to regulate difficult emotions, reduce avoidance, and replace maladaptive emotional responses with healthier ones. EFT empowers individuals to develop deeper self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and improve relationships by fostering empathy, connection, and authenticity.

I love Jenny. She is very knowledgeable and yet down to earth. She always knows what's going on in my head without my verbalizing it. She has great ideas for things to try out to make my life better! A for instance, She knows I am somewhat OCD and I like my lists, so to help slow my mind down and able to focus, She built a form for me to write things down to these questions and bring my anxiety level down so I can decide what if anything can or should be done! Best therapist ever!!
