About me

Hello, my name is David Fallon and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been licensed for about 20 years. I've worked with all kinds of individuals. I started by working with kids with behavior issues. Mostly I have worked with serious mental illness on the streets serving unhoused individuals. And I have worked with people seeking help in a one on one therapy situation. The first session will be for us to get to know each other and see if this is a good fit. I will be asking a lot of questions. Feel free to ask me any questions that come up as well. I will tell you a little bit about how I work. In the early stages, I basically follow your lead. You tell me what you want to work on, and I ask questions to understand the problem. Together we figure out ways of dealing with these problems. Sometimes it takes more than one or two or even a dozen tries to find the right things that work for you. This process is a journey, and I am here to help guide you through it. I can make recommendations, but it is up to you what you want to do and what works for you. Sometimes difficult thoughts are feelings will come up. Do not be afraid to express them when they do as the more genuine and honest you are, the more I will understand what you are dealing with. That being said, always take things at your own pace. Never feel rushed or forced to say anything you are not ready to say.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, we will begin with introductions. I will briefly talk about my background, then explain the process of therapy and what to expect. I will cover some of my methodology and a little bit about the theories I work under. Next we will focus on the question "what brings you here today?" I will ask open ended questions to get more information as well as detailed questions as needed. I will be working on formulating a possible provisional diagnosis as well as forming rudamentary goals. The session ending will leave time for any questions or concerns the client may have. If we decide to work together, we will figure a time that works to meet together and discuss a short term plan for future sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Greatest strengths: I genuinely care about the welfare of the people I serve. My goal is to help them move forward in life in any way I can. I am able to talk with just about anyone who is willing to talk to me. I am good at assessing interpersonal issues and figuring out ways of dealing with them. I have 20 years of knowledge and experience in this field behind me. I have worked with some of the most serious cases. I truly believe anyone can benefit from this kind of help as long as they are willing to put in the effort.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with people who are open to the process. That being said, I have a lot of experience working with difficult clients as well. There is no typical client for me. I allow myself to be open to the experience. I am willing to go the distance and to do what is needed to help someone improve their situation.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I utilize Object Relations Theory techniques to build a therapeutic relationship based on mutual trust and unconditional positive regard. This basic framework allows me to incorporate other treatment methods to enhance the therapy experience. I am client centered, strength based, and solution focused.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a great way to address behavior issues in both the short and long term with thought and feeling exercises that lead to change.

Psychoanalytic

Long term therapy which focuses on individual mental functioning that emphasizes the influence of unconscious processes and early experiences on behavior and personality. Unconscious conflicts and desires, often rooted in childhood, can shape an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Psychoanalysis posits that these unconscious forces can be accessed through techniques like dream analysis and free association.

Grief Therapy

Recognizing that grief is a process that is not time limited, that is complicated and therefore manifests itself in many ways, and that is essential for everyone to work on it in their own way.

Group Therapy

Group Therapy can be a powerful collective experiences that uses the experiences of its participants to help group members move forward.
