About me

Hi there, my name is Maggie and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a passion for supporting, holding and educating clients while they embark on the journey of life. Most of my experience have been working with people in various capacities, through sport/coaching, community programs and development and began in the mental health field over 12 years ago, with 10 years of experience as a masters level social worker. I have specific behavioral health experience working in environments including intensive mobile therapy, school based programs, psychiatric hospital, community mental health, and currently private practice. I specialize in working with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and family systems. It’s most important to me that there is a strong therapeutic alliance that we foster together, and to follow your lead throughout your journey in therapy. I provide an open and warm environment with gentle nudges so you can process as well as learn strategies for coping, better management of your symptoms and to explore your past, present and future experiences. I will meet you where you are in each session, wherever that may be.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Typically, my first session is done as an information gathering process with a lot of conversation, including general and historical questions, if you feel comfortable. This is so I can have an understanding of who you are, where you've been, and what you're looking for. This will take the entire first session because I like to spend a lot of time talking, learning, listening, and engaging with potential clients so we both can feel like we know a little bit about each other by the end of the first session. After, we should have decided if we are a good fit for each other and if so, agreed upon at least one goal for treatment and scheduled for our next appointment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Through my years of working with people, I have learned that individuals are incredibly unique and come with their own set of knowledge and experiences. It's my job to listen your experience and together, help you better understand yourself and to help guide our journey together to assist you in reaching your intended goals. As for my strengths, my essential tools for change have become my authenticity and genuine connection, as well as a continuous desire to keep learning new things, problem solving, and skill building. I am direct yet warm, and will encourage direct discussion that may challenge you for growth in places you might feel stuck.

My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I work with all people and ages in a family system to support the identification and process of the collective goals of the system.

Trauma Informed Care

I use an eclectic blend of trauma informed methods such as TFCBT, Attachment Based, Play Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and other somatic techniques to support a clients trauma healing journey.

Eclectic

Therapy needs to be specific to each persons individual needs, and based on the treatment goals and clients needs I will use various techniques such as individual skills, interpersonal relational skills, systemic, family therapy, solution focused/skill building, trauma/attachment focused processing, play therapy, expressive and movement based processing, somatic and mindfulness based methods.

Mind-body approach

Most of my clients will find me integrating a mind-body approach to whatever their treatment goals may be. When we become stressed, anxious, depressed, or experience trauma we become disconnected from our mind body connection, leaving us out of whack. Some people with neurodivergence naturally struggle with this connection too. I believe most of our healing can be done through an understanding of the body, the nervous system and how it impacts our mind, feelings, and actions. It's telling us a story and asking to be heard. through knowledge, feeling, and practice of this connection I believe clients have better long-term outcomes through release of stored energy, traumas, tensions, and feeling empowered to use these skills for self-regulation in the future.
