Kaitlin Nitz
I’m Kaitlin Nitz, a licensed professional clinical counselor and supervisor (LPCC-S) providing virtual therapy to clients in Ohio. I help people navigate anxiety, depression, difficult experiences, and patterns that leave them feeling stuck. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and direct when helpful. Together, we’ll build on your strengths and shape therapy around your goals, needs, and everyday life. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we begin.
First session
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask about your background, current concerns, and what you hope to gain, while leaving room for your questions. You can share at your own pace. My aim is for you to feel heard, respected, and more comfortable with the process, with an initial sense of our next steps together.
Strengths
Clients have told me they feel comfortable being open and honest with me—even when something in therapy isn’t working. I welcome direct feedback and adapt my approach to fit each person’s needs. I bring warmth, curiosity, and honest feedback to our conversations. I also recognize that coping strategies serve a purpose, even when they become less helpful. Together, we’ll understand those patterns, recognize your strengths, and develop practical ways to move toward the changes you want.
Ideal clients
I work well with people who are curious about themselves and open to growth, even if taking the first step feels uncertain. You may be navigating anxiety, depression, difficult experiences, or patterns that affect your relationships and daily life. You don’t need clear goals or all the right words to begin. Together, we’ll explore what matters to you, build on your strengths, and identify changes that feel meaningful and manageable.
Treatment methods
Gender-affirming therapy
I offer an affirming space to explore gender identity, expression, relationships, and any questions or challenges you bring to therapy. Your identity does not need to be explained or justified, and gender does not have to be the focus of our work. Depending on your goals, we may explore self-understanding, coping with discrimination, setting boundaries, navigating relationships, or support needs related to transition. I’ll follow your lead and respect the many parts of who you are.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help you notice connections between your thoughts, feelings, and actions, especially patterns that leave you anxious, discouraged, or stuck. Together, we’ll explore those patterns with curiosity and practice more helpful ways of responding. This may include examining self-critical thoughts, breaking challenges into manageable steps, or trying coping skills between sessions. I adapt these tools to your needs and experiences, while recognizing the real circumstances contributing to your distress.
Trauma-Informed Care
I approach therapy with an understanding that difficult experiences can shape how you feel, respond to stress, and connect with others. We’ll focus on building trust, supporting your sense of safety, and helping you understand your responses with compassion. We may practice grounding, emotional regulation, or noticing how stress shows up in your body. You choose what to share, and we’ll work together at a pace that respects your readiness and goals.
