Cristina Miralles
Do you find yourself overthinking, carrying too much, or feeling stuck in patterns that you understand but still struggle to change? I work with adults navigating anxiety, relationship stress, major life transitions, self-doubt, and the pressure of trying to hold everything together. I’m Cristina, a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist. Originally from Spain and having lived across cultures myself, I bring a culturally responsive perspective to therapy and understand that relationships, family, culture, and life experiences can shape how we see ourselves and respond to stress.
Originally from Spain, I bring a culturally sensitive lens to my work, informed by my own journey of adapting and growing through change.
My style is warm and supportive, but I am also active and curious in the therapy process. I ask thoughtful questions, help you make connections, and gently challenge patterns or assumptions when doing so may help you see something differently. Together, we work toward greater self-understanding while identifying practical ways to respond differently. Therapy with me is not only about coping with symptoms; it is also about building healthier relationships and making more intentional choices about how you want to move forward.
First session
Our first session is an opportunity for me to understand what has been happening in your life, what feels most difficult right now, and what you would like to be different. I’ll ask about your current concerns, important relationships, relevant experiences, strengths, and patterns you may already be noticing. You can share at your own pace. Together, we’ll begin identifying your priorities for therapy and what might be most helpful moving forward. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and clearer about what we can work on together. This session is also a chance for you to ask any questions about the process and decide if it feels like the right fit for you.
Strengths
I listen closely for the patterns beneath what is happening on the surface. Together, we may explore why certain situations trigger such strong reactions, why the same relationship patterns keep showing up, or how earlier experiences may be influencing the way you see yourself and respond to others today. My style is warm and supportive, but I am also active and curious in the therapy process. I ask thoughtful questions, help you make connections, and gently challenge patterns or assumptions when doing so may help you see something differently. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be understood without feeling judged, while also making meaningful progress. Depending on what you need, we may work on boundaries, communication, managing overthinking, tolerating difficult emotions, approaching relationships differently, or making choices that feel more consistent with the person you want to be.
Ideal clients
I primarily work with adults experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, or significant periods of change. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware, they may understand a lot about themselves already, yet still find themselves overthinking, questioning their decisions, or repeating patterns they want to change. You may be adjusting to a new stage of life, career or family changes, relocation, cultural adjustment, grief, or changes in an important relationship. You may find yourself overthinking conversations, struggling with boundaries, worrying about disappointing others, questioning your decisions, or feeling responsible for keeping everything together. Some clients come to therapy because something specific has happened. Others simply recognize that the ways they have been coping or relating to others are no longer working as well as they once did. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin with what is happening now, understand the patterns behind it, and work toward changes that feel realistic and meaningful to you.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
When anxiety, overthinking, or self-critical thoughts are keeping you stuck, I use cognitive behavioral strategies to help you recognize the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rather than simply telling yourself to “think positively,” we work together to examine patterns, consider more balanced perspectives, and develop practical ways of responding differently to situations that trigger anxiety or distress.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
When difficult thoughts, emotions, or uncertainty start to take over, I use ACT to help you respond to them differently rather than feeling controlled by them. We explore what matters most to you, notice patterns of avoidance or overthinking, and practice making choices that are more aligned with your values, even when discomfort is still present.
Psychodynamic
When you find yourself repeating the same emotional or relationship patterns, even when you understand that they are not helping you, I use a psychodynamic approach to explore what may be happening beneath the surface. Together, we look at how earlier experiences, relationships, and learned ways of coping may still shape how you respond today, with the goal of increasing self-awareness and creating more intentional choices in your relationships and daily life.
