Dana Barker
Life doesn't come with a manual, and even loving households get stuck in patterns nobody chose on purpose. I am a clinical social worker working with adolescents, adults and families untangling anxiety, stress, grief, trauma and conflict. I meet you where you are at and help you find what you need to change.
Strengths
I've worked in outpatient, home-based and virtual settings and take a collaborative approach. Early on we look at what is happening, not just symptoms so the goals come from you.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Reframing negative thought patterns into positive ones and bringing self-awareness into how thoughts, emotions and behaviors interact with one another.
Compassion-Focused
Recognize and replace patterns of self-criticism, guilt and shame and the root of where it began and instead develop compassion towards themselves and others.
Narrative
An approach based on respect that separates people from their problems. Give meaning to life through stories and rewrite disempowering narratives into stories of hope, strength, resilience and possibility.
