My name is Krystal Johnson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Children, Youth and Families, from California State University, Hayward, in 2011 and received my Licensure in 2015. A little bit about me- wife and mother of 4, Licensed Zumba Instructor, Musician, & love to scrapbook!

My goal is to provide insight, techniques, and tools (to work on and practice in between sessions) that you can use in making changes in your life.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples in meeting their goals!

First session

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me create goals and interventions for us to work through in follow up sessions.

Strengths

I've worked in many different settings with individuals, couples and families who have a variety of personal issues such as depression/anxiety, stress, family problems, trauma/abuse, relationships/parenting and more. Throughout the years as a clinician, my experience has taught me that the most important aspect of counseling by far is the connection, rapport and comfort you feel with the person you choose to share your most vulnerable thoughts.

Ideal clients

Individuals, Couples. Those needing support around depression, anxiety and/or grief. Dealing with Work Stress, Family Stress.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Support clients with understanding the benefits of CBT and discuss coping strategies.

Couples Counseling

Some of my approaches include Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Gottman Method, and Imago Relationship Therapy. The above focus on improving communication, resolving conflict, addressing underlying issues, and fostering emotional connection.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy methods that I use include psychotherapy, techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). I also have used methods that include support groups, creative expression, and empathetic listening.

I am very happy with my first session with Krystal Johnson. I am just laying the groundwork now, but I felt comfortable talking with her and appreciated her professionalism and her input.

It was nice, brief session and I am encouraged that what I need to properly heal will be forthcoming. I know there is a lot for me to unpack and for the first time in my life I am dedicated to doing the work, and intentional about the steps needed to complete the work. I have 3 amazing children and MYSELF to get better for and a lot left living to do. I plan to make the rest of my days the best of my days and that starts with getting the help I need to succeed.
