New to Grow
Hello, I'm Nancy. I admire your wisdom and courage in reaching out for help. It is a strength to ask for help when we need it - and we all need it from time to time! Whatever the specific troubles, there are clear steps from where you are to where you wish to be, to feeling better. I am prepared to define and walk those steps with you. My clients say they feel at ease with me; that I am compassionate, non-judgmental, and supportive; that they feel heard, seen, and safe. I want to provide this for you, along with tools to uncover the problems and implement solutions. My work centers around you as the expert on your life, guided by me, an expert in mental health. Together, we can uncover, unravel, and reclaim control of the problems causing you distress, while discovering, understanding, and internalizing techniques to experience peace and joy. I use concrete processes that bring tangible, sustainable results, utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches. I hold an MA and am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Certified Addiction Specialist. My specializations include addiction, dementia, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, adolescent & teen mental/behavioral health, depression, eating disorders, family relationships, grief/bereavement, life transitions, medical issues/physical health, OCD, phobias, PTSD, intimate/romantic relationships, sex/intimacy issues, sleep disorders, somatic symptom disorder, spirituality, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, and trauma. My passion and commitment have only grown through these years as a therapist. I love getting to help people - investing in their improved lives, guiding them into healing, hope, health, and fulfilling their purpose. I strive to not only decrease distress but also to increase joy. Let's start on your personal journey toward these things today!
We will discuss what motivated you to seek therapy and how we can collaborate to address it. We will discuss possible treatment, as well as expected outcomes and the means of achieving them.
Given my background working with hospice patients, addiction issues and court-mandated clients, I have experience with a wide variety of mental health issues and therapeutic approaches to help me guide the patient to the best possible outcome.
I most enjoy working with clients who are not seeking merely to relieve distress, but to increase joy. I believe we as therapists need to employ a therapeutic approach that centralizes the idea that the client is more than a collection of problems to be solved, but is instead a whole and unique person. It is an honor to guide clients to tangible, sustainable improvements in overall quality of life, as well as addressing specific problems and their solutions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have found cognitive behavioral therapy to be very effective in helping people identify their thoughts, feelings and behavior patterns that are causing them distress and keeping them stuck in negative places in their lives. With CBT modalities, people can change these patterns, getting them unstuck, and freeing them to move forward in living the life they desire to live.
Trauma Informed Care
I utilize trauma informed care across various treatment approaches to create a safe, trusting, supportive, and empowering environment so that clients are able to address their experiences with distance and understanding, fostering resilience and healing. It is necessary in discovering how traumatic and other adverse experiences are being held in the brain and body and negatively effecting present day life.
Psychodynamic
I focus on early life experiences and relationships to help the client understand and address the root causes of their suffering, and to aid them in directly addressing harmful unconscious beliefs and patterns.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I utilize SFBT with clients who are solutions-based and seeking to solve specific problems, as opposed to more broad-based analysis. Many clients prefer a short duration of treatment focusing on a specific challenge and are action-oriented, so this approach can be good fit in such cases.
Eclectic
I usually employ a combination of approaches, because each client presents a unique combination of personality traits. The eclectic approach allows client and therapist to collaborate on a customized treatment plan utilizing multiple therapeutic approaches. We can address complex problems using such a multifaceted approach.
