You’re an Asian-American professional who has achieved a great deal, yet still feels unhappy. You may feel angry with the people you love most, worried and afraid about what life may bring, disappointed when things don’t go your way, and frustrated with all of the above. You know there has to be more to life than simply getting through the day, but you haven’t been able to figure out what that is yet. As a second-generation Korean American therapist, I understand both personally and professionally how difficult it can be to grow up between cultures, navigate family expectations, and develop a stable sense of confidence and self-respect. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I draw from CBT, psychodynamic therapy, supportive therapy, and mindfulness to help clients better understand their patterns, reduce anxiety and self-criticism, strengthen boundaries, and create lasting and meaningful change. Therapy can help you move from simply getting through life to feeling more grounded, connected, and at peace with yourself. If this resonates with you, I would be glad to work with you.
In our first session, we will begin by getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will explain how therapy works, answer any questions you may have, and help you understand what to expect from our work together. We will talk about what has been happening in your life, what you are struggling with, and what you would like to change. I will also ask questions about your history, relationships, symptoms, stressors, and goals so that I can better understand how to support you. My goal is to make the first session feel thoughtful, collaborative, and useful.
I bring a practical, direct, and compassionate approach to therapy. I do not believe therapy should stay only at the level of insight or theory; it should help you understand yourself more clearly and make real changes in how you live, relate, and respond to stress. I draw from both professional training and personal experience, offering tools and perspectives that are grounded, realistic, and applicable to everyday life. In our work together, I will help you identify patterns, challenge self-critical thoughts, strengthen boundaries, and practice new ways of responding to anxiety, anger, family pressure, and relationship stress. Therapy is most effective when insight is paired with action. I will support you in understanding what needs to change and help you take practical steps toward becoming more grounded, confident, and at peace with yourself.
I am best positioned to work with Asian-American professionals and other high-achieving adults who appear successful on the outside but feel anxious, unhappy, self-critical, or emotionally stuck on the inside. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, family pressure, cultural expectations, relationship stress, anger, or low self-esteem. I work especially well with thoughtful, motivated clients who want to understand their patterns, strengthen boundaries, reduce self-criticism, and develop greater confidence, self-respect, and peace.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify and change the beliefs and thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, self-criticism, anger, perfectionism, and unhappiness. Many high-achieving clients are used to expecting the worst, being overly hard on themselves, or feeling that they are never doing enough. Together, we work on challenging unhelpful thoughts and developing more balanced, realistic ways of thinking so clients can respond to stress with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional steadiness.
Supportive
I use supportive therapy to help clients feel understood, validated, and encouraged as they work through anxiety, self-criticism, relationship stress, family pressure, and life transitions. I help clients recognize their strengths, notice what they are already doing well, and build on their existing progress. Many high-achieving clients are quick to focus on mistakes or shortcomings. My role is to help clients develop a more balanced and compassionate view of themselves so they can move forward with greater confidence and resilience.
Psychodynamic
I use psychodynamic therapy to help clients understand how earlier experiences and family dynamics may still shape their emotions, relationships, and sense of self. Sometimes an intense reaction in the present is connected to unresolved pain from the past. Together, we work to identify these patterns with curiosity and compassion so clients can heal old wounds, respond more thoughtfully, and develop greater confidence, self-respect, and emotional freedom.

I have been able to take my self awareness to a level where I now trust myself to make good decisions. I am also navigating my next steps in work and family life. As the sandwich generation, there is much to work through! Eshan helps me keep self care top of mind. It is the oxygen max approach. I am putting mine on first.
