Marcy Houston
I believe that through a supportive partnership, people are empowered to make lasting behavior changes. I will partner with you to clearly visualize your personal values, goals and strengths in order to achieve balance with mind, body and spirit. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience. I have worked with military and their families for the majority of my career. I am married to a retired Marine and understand the stresses involved with military families. I work with individuals and couples. I have also been trained through Duke Integrative Medicine as an Integrative Health Coach. Through health coaching we look at several aspects of a persons life to determine changes that can be made to for optimal health and wellness.
I will partner with you to clearly visualize your personal values, goals and strengths in order to achieve balance with mind, body and spirit.
First session
My hope is that clients will feel lighter after the first session after speaking outloud their needs and feeling heard. I hope that they feel empowered to make change in their life and in control of that change.
Strengths
I have worked with all populations in my career and found that holding space for someone is the best practice to bring about change. I believe that they client is the professionals in their own life, I am a guide.
Ideal clients
I do not have an ideal client. Every person is unique and worthy of dignity and respect. I feel that every person is doing their best with what they have been given. It is my job to come along side my client and let them discover their best selves or to help people who feel stuck look for ways to become "unstuck."
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
It is my belief that what we think about certain situations, or about our life in general affects how we feel about ourselves and the world around us as well as the actions that we take in our lives.
