In today's world, mental health support is needed more than ever. Mental health IS health. It's time to end the stigma and realize it's okay to not be okay. Finding a therapist can be a daunting process but congratulations on taking the first step! As a therapist, I am to foster an environment that is warm, collaborative, supportive, and nonjudgmental. Born and raised in Massachusetts, I earned my Masters in Social Work from Boston College after receiving my Bachelors of Arts degree in history. I am licensed in all 6 New England states (RI was just added), in addition to Illinois. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege to work with a vast array of individuals from all walks of life including children and adolescents, adults, seniors, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As a telehealth provider, I only treat adults over the age of 22.

First session

My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe environment where we can explore your primary interests, develop goals, and determine and promote strengths as you move toward your aspirations. In the first session, I strive to make you feel safe and comfortable. We'll start with brief introductions and discuss your specific challenges. This will help me tailor a plan for us to work through in follow up sessions. We'll only discuss issues you feel comfortable talking about.

Strengths

The core of any successful therapy is the therapeutic alliance. I aim to create a safe environment where the client and therapist can work together through whatever issues have brought them to therapy. I believe that the client is the expert on their own life and experience and that their right to self-determination comes first. Through a strong therapeutic alliance, clients can gain insight and create lasting changes. I am both empathic and non-judgmental and believe the client is the one that is in the driver's seat, while the therapist is there to help navigate and provide skills and techniques that the client can utilize.

Ideal clients

While engaging with clients, I use a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to foster an encouraging and safe atmosphere. I want all my clients to feel free to express their emotions and concerns without feeling judged. I have experience in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and chronic and terminal illnesses. I have an extensive background in geriatrics, grief, and end of life care.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe that the client is the expert on their own life and experience and that their right to self-determination comes first. Through a strong therapeutic alliance, clients can gain insight and create lasting changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

All behavior has meaning. Oftentimes, we develop negative thought patterns and processes that can cause distress, interfering with our day-to-day functioning. Sometimes the help of a trained professional is needed to retrain our way of thinking.

Even after just my first session, I could tell she is incredibly genuine and truly cares about her clients. She made me feel comfortable, heard, and completely free of judgment. I’m so grateful I found her and look forward to continuing my journey with her.
