Hey there, I’m Rhapsody. Is it hard to get out of bed some days? Does it feel like a huge task to even brush your teeth? Do you miss family functions or friend activities because you’re feeling too anxious? I provide client-centered therapy for individuals. Together, we can look at what isn’t working and identify new skills that can help to improve your mood, motivation and thoughts. I incorporate mindfulness into my practice, and, no that doesn’t always include meditation. If you’ve been dealing with depression, anxiety, Bipolar disorder and/or have a history of trauma, I’m here to help. Seeking therapy can often be a big first step to mental wellness. It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop- Confucius

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First sessions can vary. I usually start with asking about what brings you to therapy, how your life is now and what kinds of things are impacted. I like to know if there is a history of mental health issues in your family or if you've been dealing with mental health issues. I will want to know about friendships, relationships, family dynamics. I will ask about trauma and if you've experienced any. Sometimes we will discuss trauma without talking about specific events. An intake is really an opportunity for us to get to know each other and build a positive working relationship.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

As a social worker, I like to know about how a person exists in their world. We will look at not only current symptoms and behaviors, but how are your relationships with family, friends, partners and colleagues. We discuss your environment and if that has an effect on you. I have specialty training in therapeutic interventions including trauma-focused treatments such as Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I use these three modalities throughout therapy while also using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to look at thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I’ve worked with adults have experienced physical, emotional and sexual trauma. I’ve provided CPT treatment to Veterans who have experienced trauma including MST, combat and/or overall military experience. I feel that as a therapist, I am personable, I will meet you where you’re at, I’ll hold your hope if you’re unable to, and I will be there to cheer you on even when a success may be small.
