Hello there! My name is Victoria Montenegro and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California. I received my Master's in Social Work from California State University, Northridge in 2016 and I have been licensed since 2019. My mission is to empower teens, adults and student athletes by providing the knowledge/skills needed to cope in this ever-changing world.
In our first session together, we will definitely get to know one another. I will provide detailed insight as to what to expect from myself and future sessions. We will then start to explore what brings you to therapy and we will collaborate in establishing goals that will help guide us for our future sessions.
My greatest strength as a provider is the ability to create an emotionally safe space for individuals to feel comfortable being vulnerable and starting their healing journey. I pride myself in being able to listen with compassion, free of judgement and with acceptance.
I have 10+ years of experience working with teens, adults and student athletes who have experienced various forms of trauma, struggle with anxiety, depression, major life stressors, anger management and behavioral issues. Transparency & vulnerability are a part of therapy, which takes a significant amount of courage & bravery on your end. I am here to listen with compassion, free of judgment, and with acceptance. My priority is to create a space that is emotionally safe for you to embark on your healing journey. I believe it is vital to work together as teammates in this therapeutic relationship. One of my missions is to assist in breaking the mental health stigma within the sports culture by raising awareness for the needs of student athletes through counseling and education. I assist student athletes in reaching their full potential academically, athletically, emotionally and spiritually by empowering them to utilize their strengths to increase their overall wellbeing.
I have over 10+ years experience utilizing TF-CBT with teens, adults and the student athlete population. I provide education regarding trauma and how trauma can impact our lives if not addressed. My approach is collaborative, empowering and with compassion.
I have over 10+ years experience utilizing motivational interviewing with teens, adults and the student athlete population. I utilize motivational interviewing to assist clients with motivation for a healthy behavioral change. My approach is collaborative, empowering and with compassion.
I have 8 + years utilizing narrative therapy in my practice with teens, adults and the student athlete population. I utilize narrative therapy in my practice in efforts to assist client's with understanding the meanings they create for their experiences and how it impacts/influences their overall well-being.
I have been utilizing a strength-based approach in my practice for over 10 years working with teens, adults and the student athlete population. I want to empower clients by providing knowledge, skills and the attitude/mind set needed to cope in this world that we live in that is ever changing. I want to assist client's in feeling prepared for any circumstance/obstacle.
I have over 8 years experience utilizing Solution Focused Therapy in my practice working with teens, adults and the student athlete population. I believe collaboration in necessary and crucial to achieving results. Solution is goal oriented which requires discipline, the desire to change and understand that change is necessary for growth and that change is constant.
