Hi. My name is Marilyn Rose, LMFT. Having been a licensed therapist in Sacramento for over 20 years. I am excited about working with adults and their aging parents. A certified Grief Therapist and educated in Geriatric care, I have personal experience as a care giver / case manager for my elderly parents. I have expertise in helping clients with life transitions, and empowering them to develop coping strategies. Essentially, I aid my clients in creating their individualized life paths within a secure and sacred space. As a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist it is out of my scope of practice to treat people with Personality Disorders. Due to the limitations of teletherapy, I choose not to work with couples. Due to lack of training, I am not seeing clients with illegal substances, gambling, and sex addictions. My preference is to work with women over the age of 35, may have ADHD /Autism issues, grief and loss issues, eating disorders, caregivers of family/friends.

Hi! First, I want to thank you for visiting my page and giving me an opportunity to see how my therapeutic style can assist you with reducing your distress and increasing your life satisfaction. I am so honored that you have decided to review my profile and see if I am a good fit for your journey. I have been working as a therapist with a variety of mental health disorders and systemic family dynamics since 2015. I initially pursued a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and decided that was an unfulfilling career direction for me. Upon deciding to pursue a master’s degree, I decided to pursue the MFT field. Becoming and MFT was the career goal I had as a teenager, so you could say that pursuing the field is a lifelong dream come true. My methods of therapy are person led. I like to provide space, and safety to assist you with addressing the reason or reasons that you made the brave choice to pursue therapy. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy also known as DBT. It is a gentle, an evidenced based method that uses mindfulness and increasing internal coping mechanisms to assist with achieving therapeutic goals. Additionally, I also can utilize a technique called Brainspotting to assist people with reducing trauma that is deep and difficult to resolve through traditional talk therapy. The pace at which we go and move through therapy is up to you. I am LGBTQ+ affirming therapist. I work with clients who are questioning, in their transition process, as well as those who are working on their mental health unrelated to their sexual and gender orientation. If necessary, I can consult with you if you need me to provide gender affirming letters when required for insurance and surgical and hormonal procedures. I really appreciate the time that you took to read through all this information, and I hope that it helps you make an informed decision.

In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) within a trauma-informed care framework to support clients struggling with self-esteem, body image, and relationship issues. Recognizing the impact of trauma on these areas, I create a safe and empathetic environment where clients feel validated and understood. My structured approach helps clients develop practical skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. For self-esteem and body image concerns, I focus on helping clients cultivate self-compassion and challenge negative self-talk through mindfulness and acceptance strategies, always being mindful of their trauma history. In addressing relationship issues, I guide clients in building healthier communication patterns and setting appropriate boundaries using interpersonal effectiveness skills, while ensuring a trauma-sensitive approach. By integrating these techniques, I empower clients to navigate their emotions more effectively, improve their self-perception, and foster more fulfilling relationships, all within a context that prioritizes their safety and well-being.

I was always described as a “helper” and always felt a sense of fulfillment when helping others. Becoming a therapist for me was a way to make a positive impact on individuals and communities as well as empower them to know it is OKAY to be NOT OKAY.

As a licensed clinical social worker, I bring a deep commitment to holistic healing rooted in both modern therapeutic techniques and the cultural practices of Oceania. Drawing from my Pacific Islander heritage, I integrate the art of wayfinding—a tradition of navigating life’s journeys with purpose and intuition—into my practice. This unique approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a strong emphasis on community care, helping clients navigate personal growth and healing within the context of collective support. With over 15 years of providing culturally responsive mental health services in a variety of clinical settings, I specialize in working with individuals from historically excluded and marginalized communities, including Black and Pacific Islander populations. I am passionate about creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their challenges, strengths, and aspirations with empathy and cultural understanding. My journey through life—as a father, spouse, son, cousin, uncle, friend, neighbor, co-worker, and future ancestor—has gifted me with a rich tapestry of experiences both within and beyond the clinical setting. These roles have deepened my understanding of the human experience, allowing me to create a welcoming space where clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to bring their whole selves to every session.

I am flexible in my approach to therapy, recognizing that each client’s needs are unique. My primary focus is on addressing immediate concerns, providing targeted support and strategies to tackle pressing issues. If necessary, we can delve into past experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you, ensuring we do not overwhelm you while still addressing underlying issues that may impact your present situation. I understand that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. Therefore, I do not confine clients to a full hour of therapy unless it is needed. Some clients prefer to use the entire session time to explore their concerns deeply, while others may focus on immediate needs and prefer shorter sessions. This flexibility allows us to make the most of our time together, ensuring you receive the support you need in a way that works best for you. To ensure continuous progress, I provide tools and strategies for you to use between sessions. These may include practical exercises, coping mechanisms, and reflective practices designed to reinforce our work in therapy. This ongoing support helps maintain momentum and fosters lasting change. My straightforward yet understanding approach encourages open communication. I create a space where you can express your thoughts and feelings freely, knowing that you will be met with empathy and respect. This helps build a strong therapeutic relationship, essential for effective therapy and positive outcomes.

Hi! My name is Cristina, I am a licensed clinical social worker, based out of Los Angeles. Growing up in LA I was immersed in a culturally diverse environment learning Spanish at an early age. I received a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California with a focus on Adults Mental Health and Wellness. After working in the mental health field for over ten years, I have developed vast experience in program development as well as direct patient care with a variety of vulnerable communities in both in the non-profit and private sector. I utilize a client-centered, trauma focused approach in my treatment modalities, blending evidence-based practices such as CBT and EMDR to create a culturally competent treatment approach to support each client’s unique needs. As a leader and innovator, I have worked in program development for several years serving the dually diagnosed homeless populations by working with homeowners to develop sustainable housing models for the Los Angeles County homeless. As a result of seeing the barriers to safe sober housing I forged a path in the substance abuse field and worked at every level of care in substance abuse treatment, eventually becoming a co-founder of a women’s sober living in the San Fernando Valley. My work in the non-profit sector with the Latinx LGBTQIA+ community, and my work with children, youth, and families, has afforded me the opportunity to a hone a trauma focused clinical practice with a penchant for intergenerational trauma and grief and loss issues.

I specialize in working with teens and young adults through difficulties with daily life challenges such as interpersonal relationships, family conflicts, life transitions, intimate partner challenges, and academic and career-related stress. I use a humanistic approach to my therapeutic style to explore what works best for clients. The therapy journey helps individuals understand thoughts, feelings, reactions, and responses, aiding with healing and growth. This can lead to a life that feels more grounded, joyful, and meaningful. I have been working as a therapist for over 10 years. Have you ever asked yourself, "why don't I feel good about myself and my choices in life?" I want to help you explore those feelings and get to the root cause so we can reveal the parts of you that feel alive and whole again. Do you remember the hopes and dreams you had as a child? What happened to those dreams? It could be life events or circumstances, some that were out of your control and some that you made consciously or unconsciously. If you have experienced trauma, sexual trauma, this can contribute to your mental, physical, and emotional struggles. Sexual trauma is not easy to discuss, as it is a taboo topic, and you may not find you can share your story with your friends and family. Secrecy is part of the toxic shame that often leads to issues with self-esteem, relationships, intimacy, and other behavioral problems. Every person has the answers within themselves to reveal the shiny pearl in the bed of a sandy oyster. I can help you if you are ready to do the work of personal growth and healing.

Hello. my name is Diane Gibbs and i have been a licensed clinical social worker since 2008. I have worked inpatient and outpatient mental health. I am Rogerian trained, which means i have awareness of my boundaries and the clts boundaries. I am clt centered, being aware of my transference in the therapy relationship; often using the transference for clt growth. I am humanistic, which means any one of us can experience disturbance of mood, thought, or emotion; simply because we are human. As a clt centered therapist my role is to hold a mirror up as to allow the clt to witness their experience and offer reccomendations for tx plan. Also, empowering the clt to connect and use their strengths; support, spirituality or agnostic beliefs. I have used various modality interventions including meditation, visualization, and exposure acclimation. I have worked with 5 yo to 80+ yr old. My experience is broad, from post partum to end of life issues and many life stages in between. Whether its anxiety or depression. From bipolar to ocd or schizophrenia; i work at creating a safe environment where boundaries are clear and the clt feels free to discuss their issues in safety and privacy.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my Master of Social Work degree from Catholic University of America. I have been working with clients in a therapeutic setting for over 20 years with the focus of addressing current behaviors that are no longer helpful in their personal and professional lives. I help clients look at their behaviors from a lens of compassion rather than judgment so we can work together to find the underlying cause of your pain. I teach skills that focus on challenging negative thought patterns, negative core beliefs, using a cognitive behavioral approach as well as skills that address how to manage intense emotions when under stress. We work together to understand the deeper issues and we do so with thoughtfulness and respect to your experiences.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take Blue Cross?

Yes! If you use Blue Cross you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Blue Cross you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
