Teisha, the heart and soul behind Mental Wellness with Teisha, a mental health practice in California. Teisha is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 15 years of experience. As the founder of a Black, female-owned business, she is dedicated to offering mental health services that reflect her deep commitment to education, advocacy, and community support. Our practice is built on compassion, integrity, and collaboration. These core values guide us in providing the highest quality of care and ensure a respectful and empowering experience for all our clients.
In the first session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can share their concerns and goals. We will discuss their background, current challenges, and what they hope to achieve through our work together. I'll also explain my approach and the tools we might use. This initial session is primarily about building rapport, understanding their needs, and laying the groundwork for future sessions. Clients should leave feeling hear, validated, and with a clear sense of the path forward.
My greatest strengths are my ability to create a safe space where clients feel heard and understood. My own experiences and awareness of the unique challenges faced by women. Lastly, my ability to help clients identify practical strategies to overcome anxiety, depression, and career challenges.
I'm best positioned to serve women particularly women of color or those who identify as Black or African American. These clients are often eager to improve their lives but may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, career challenges, and interpersonal conflicts. They seek a supportive space to explore their experiences, gain practical tools, and develop strategies for personal growth and empowerment. By addressing cultural and societal factors, I ca provide tailored guidance that resonates with their unique perspectives and needs.

I worked with Teisha during my pregnancy and found her support helpful during that season. However, in the postpartum period, when emotions and schedules can be especially unpredictable, I found the structure much less flexible. If you are newly postpartum, I would recommend making sure you have a very consistent schedule before working with her, as there is little room for last-min adjustments. While I understand the importance of policies, I personally needed more flexibility during that time.

My conversation with Teisha was great. I feel like we covered a lot of good ground for an initial intake call. I appreciated her questions and thoughtfulness. I felt comfortable sharing with her and I felt she was really able to understand what I need from therapy after listening to me.

Teisha is always reminding me that what I am feeling comes from reasoning and never judges me for it.
