Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I received my Masters from Azusa Pacific University and I have been practicing for 5 years. I am bilingual and the proud daughter of Latino immigrants. I have dedicated my career to help my clients overcome their mental health challenges and live healthier lives. I have experience in various clinical settings including group homes, community mental health, schools, and with the justice system.
In our first session, we will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing which brought you to therapy. We will collaborate to create an individualized treatment plan for us to work towards in the following sessions.
I understand that every individual has unique experiences and values that shape them as a person which is why every person must be treated as such. Being culturally sensitive and using a strength approach will ensure that my clients values are respected in the therapeutic process. My warmth, compassion, and nonjudgmental approach allows me to create a safe space where clients feel understood and empowered to make changes.
I am passionate about supporting my clients through a range of issues including anxiety, depression, and issues stemming from trauma.
I have been using CBT in my practice for the past five years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety and depression. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and happier life.
Motivational interviewing is a tool I have used with my clients when they’re experiencing ambivalence about change. By asking open ended questions and offering affirmations, I plan to instill hope and confidence in clients to make an effort into moving into the action stage of change. Motivational interviewing can be used when clients are dealing with life changes or identifying problems.
Trauma informed care is not just for people with obvious trauma symptoms, it can be beneficial for people with any type of trauma. Trauma-informed care incorporates an awareness of trauma into treatment while making safety a priority for my clients. We can discuss self-care, emotional boundaries, and grounding techniques. Additionally, I will help my clients understand their coping skills, how they’ve coped with past trauma, and how to develop healthy new strategies.
