Welcome, I’m Elaine a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), based in North Carolina, I’m also licensed to practice in Ohio and South Carolina. Take a moment to acknowledge you've taken the first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment. I believe that counseling should be a conversation in a private, peaceful setting where you can explore issues that are impacting your life. In a private, peaceful, therapeutic environment I will listen to you without judgment, provide support, insight and feedback to help you address current or long standing issues that are impacting your life and possibly interfering with your emotional well-being. I have over 20 years experience working with individual and families to address mood instability, depression, anxiety, personal trauma, grief/loss, interpersonal problems, chronic illness and substance abuse. I specialize in working with adults from a holistic perspective providing individual counseling using diverse therapeutic modalities. I believe that therapy works best when there is a commitment to attend regular scheduled therapy session. I believe that individuals are resilient and have the capacity to heal from within. I believe in creating pathways for positive change. I believe “ life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learn to dance in the rain”.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session together will be the intake appointment where we will begin to get to know one another. Like any new relationship we will start with introductions, I will share information about my self and allow you to ask questions. I will provide a overview of Grow Therapy's policy, discuss appointment cancellation and no show fees. The therapeutic process, and expectations will be covered in this session. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing and a plan to address it. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have a natural empathic and supportive personality which allow me to build rapport and develop a therapeutic alliance in a short period of time. As A therapist my greatest strengths are active listening, unconditional positive regard, and my ability to help you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with adults challenged by depression, anxiety, mood instability, self esteem and grief. My clients have internal resources and strength but are often unable to identify these assets on their own. 20 years experience providing individual counseling from a holistic perspective in a relaxed therapeutic environment positions me to help you address current or long standing challenges that are impacting your life and interfering with your wellbeing.

Elaine was easy to talk to and open-minded. She listened and responded in a guided, but non-judgmental way. She has a bit of humor which I found empowering. She heard me!

The types of conditions/issues she has dealt with during her sessions are what brought me to try working with her. During this first discovery session she was personable and warm. I'm looking forward to an actual working session with her.
