Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California with 8 years of experience seeing clients from various backgrounds. I received my Master's from Argosy University in Orange, CA. I help clients recognize their strengths, develop positive thinking patterns, and assist them in moving through life's obstacles. Everyone is an expert in their own life, but sometimes, we all need a little reminder that we can find solutions to existing issues.
In our first session, we will briefly introduce ourselves, assess the presenting issue, and develop goals that specifically target your current challenges. I will also gladly answer any questions you may have pertaining to the therapy and treatment process.
I give my clients control over the session so they do not feel the therapist is taking over the entire treatment. This approach ensures that clients feel a sense of accomplishment and are not disappointed that the issue they wanted to address was not discussed. I am direct and honest with my clients about what we can and cannot achieve, and I love to utilize psychoeducation to normalize the symptoms they are feeling.
I love helping clients who are overwhelmed by daily tasks, anxious and uncertain about their future and unable to move past their traumas. Sometimes, life throws us into a loop of negativity, and it seems there are no feasible choices to move past the problem. However, we can utilize our past experiences and current strengths to overcome mostly anything life throws at us. "Happiness comes from overcoming obstacles and achieving goals" (Maxwell Maltz).
I've been using CBT to help my clients identify, challenge and replace maladaptive thinking patterns with more adaptive cognitive approaches. Thoughts influence our feelings, and feelings influence our behavior. Challenging and replacing negative thoughts with more balanced thoughts helps clients see the world from a positive perspective, resulting in positive behavioral changes and effective coping with everyday challenges.
A strength-based approach helps my clients identify past situations when they could overcome obstacles and thrive. Sometimes, we all need a reminder that we can figure out our solutions and rely on our strengths to get through difficult times.
A solution-based therapy assists clients in finding solutions to existing problems, focusing on what they can instead of cannot do. Clients assess their strengths and build solutions based on their positive qualities and resilience.
Prolonged exposure therapy helps my clients gradually process their thoughts and feelings related to past and current traumatic events in a safe and comfortable environment. Clients also learn that trauma reminders are not dangerous and that their distress is not permanent.
Psychoanalytic therapy helps clients understand their feelings and behaviors and uncovers underlying childhood issues that influence how they think, feel, and act in the present. I use this approach to assist clients in finding the core problem of their current behaviors, which helps them understand and regain control of their lives.
