I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, with a specialty in the treatment of anxiety (Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional) and substance abuse (Licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Kentucky and Certified Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Georgia). I have been practicing counseling/therapy since 2008 and have practiced in multiple settings, including residential, correctional, and outpatient. I am a Disabled Veteran and in long-term recovery from substance use. I have also been a user of mental and behavioral health services. As such, I am personally aware of the stigma associated with reaching out for help. Be assured that reaching out for help takes an extraordinary amount of inner strength and desire to be your best self. My philosophy regarding counseling/therapy is that it is not magic. A secret word or a snap of the fingers does not solve our issues. Therapy is two people talking about life’s difficulties, learning coping mechanisms to manage our reactions to those difficulties so their impact is reduced in the present, and utilizing those coping skills in the future to prevent our previous, undesired, reactions from returning. It takes hard work to make changes in our lives. Congratulations for valuing yourself enough to make a commitment to yourself to do the hard work.

Being at peace in the world as we face life's stresses and difficulties. This is the place I hope to bring my clients. Life is a challenge - one finds sadness and joy; darkness and light; despair and hope. We can learn how to face all of these experiences, accepting both the consolation and the trials inherent in each. I can help clients navigate this great journey, as they build the habits needed to bring fullness of life. I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from Portland State University and have practiced in the areas of adults, children & families, couples, and geriatrics for nearly 20 years. I focus on working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, & grief. I have substantial experience working with binge-eating disorder, geriatrics, substance use, sexual abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, and suicide. I developed my clinical experience at Vitas Healthcare (hospice), the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and other agencies both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Hello, I'm Tim, Are there things in your life that you want to change to be happier, feel better about yourself, come to terms with things from the past, or have better relationships with others? If you do, I believe that counseling can help you achieve the kind of life you want to have. I'm a clinical psychologist specializing in treatment of post traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression. I have over 20 years of experience as a therapist and I am trained in multiple types of therapies. I'm originally from Oregon, but I have spent most of my adult life in Texas and a few years overseas in Asia and Europe. In addition to private practice, I have been a military psychologist, Veterans Affairs psychologist, PTSD clinic director, Psycho-Social Rehabilitation clinic director, and adjunct clinical assistant professor at UT Health medical school, as well as participating in major research projects in treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. I believe that therapy is a science as well as an art, and I have found that my knowledge of clinical research can greatly improve the results of counseling. I have found that counseling can be very effective at helping people make the kinds of changes that they desire in their lives, help them to have a healthier sense of self, more satisfying relationships with others, and a better quality of life. I'm confident that you can meet your goals with a bit of work and the right treatment plan.

My name is Bill Massey and I am a licensed clinical social worker practicing in west central Georgia and east central Alabama. I graduated from the University of Georgia's MSW program in 1993 and became an LCSW in 1996. I have worked in home health and hospice for most of my career with a strong emphasis on geriatrics and dementia care. I have experience in inpatient psychiatric settings and residential services as well. I am looking to fill a niche that I have seen wanting attention for some time. For many years I have seen elders and their families in their homes but had to refer out any counseling other than crisis intervention to outpatient therapists. The problem is that I have been referring homebound people for outpatient therapy. This is not effective for many reasons. With the help of Grow Therapy, I intend to offer my services of counseling and case management to people in the comfort of their own homes. I will become a mobile mental health provider to serve a population that has gone largely underserved for all too long. My coverage area for in-home therapy will be Lee, Russell, and Chambers counties in Alabama as well as Muscogee, Chattahoochee, and Harris Counties in Georgia. I am opening up limited appointment times for virtual counseling as of mid May 2024.

Sometimes people experience emotional problems (e.g., anxiety, depression), behavioral problems (e.g., overeating, smoking), or relationship problems (e.g., excessive arguing, poor communication) that interfere with their daily functioning. These difficulties result from the interaction of biological, learning, behavioral, and environmental factors, which influence patterns of thinking and behaving. Negative life events can contribute to the development of self-defeating patterns of thinking and behaving, which some people can have difficulty changing. In my work, which I have been practicing for 40 years, I help people identify these self-defeating patterns and develop strategies for dealing with them. I emphasize the importance of practicing these strategies consistently, with the goal of handling emotions more effectively and behaving in more responsible and healthy ways. I focus on life pattern changes with respect to relationships, depression, anxiety, anger control, impulse control, and stress management.
