Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of GA. I received my MSW from Valdosta State University. I am currently running my own private practice for the past 5 years, which allows me autonomy in the work I do with clients. I began my career in Albany GA in 1997 working for a psychiatric hospital where I had the opportunity to work with children, adults and families who suffer directly and/or indirectly with mental health and substance use disorders. My diverse work history has taught me patience and how to approach problems with empathy, compassion and sensitivity.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session is 60 minutes which includes a brief introduction, review of consent forms and assessments. Clients will have the opportunity to share their feelings in a safe non judgmental space. I'll ask specific questions to help me gain insight about treatment needs. The first visit is to work on building rapport and information gathering to help me gain insight as to the best treatment approach to help meet your therapy needs.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have an eclectic approach to therapy but CBT is my primary therapy approach. I have worked with adults at all stages of life. I have a stable and long history when working for companies which has allowed me to have the honor of seeing positive change in clients. I've develop a skill set to help clients feel comfortable being vulnerable, safe, empowered and hopeful about their lives. My tried and true approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which works to identify root causes, barriers and automatic/irrational thoughts which affect feelings and behavior to find solutions and alternative coping skills. I provide homework to help provide tools and skills to practice between visits which we review in follow up visits.
